Seriously though, Vince Young played an incredible game. Congrats Heidi.

Thanks, Dequils.

The only sad part is that my sister, who is a senior at UT, had to miss the game. She is studying abroad in Thailand this semester, and had to be there this week. My mom called her after every quarter with the score. We're going to try to order her one of the programs from the game, but I just checked and they're showing "currently sold out" on the website.

It was a great game. There were mistakes, bad calls, and awesome plays on both sides. And best of all, Vince still says he is staying at Texas and not going to the draft yet. But we won't breathe easy in Austin until after the 15th, which is the deadline to apply for the draft.

It was a good game, but last nights triple OT Orange Bowl was better, if you ask me.
Its funny how something that takes multiple days to set up comes down in a few hours...

I'd be surprised if Vince stays at Texas given his talent and the money he will be offered. But hey, its been known to happen. ;)

The Rose Bowl is about 1 mile from my work. Fortunately, I drive in the OPPOSITE direction to get home. ;)

Oh yes, very happy. My voice is about gone today from screaming for almost every play. And I jumped around like a little girl then tackled Kevin when we won. WooHoo!!

The Vince question is a big one. On one hand, Mack Brown has never lost a player to the draft. He really works with them on finishing their education, etc. And most of the teams at the top of the draft won't be looking for a quarterback, either having an awesome one or having just invested a lot of money in one. And the temptation to stay and try to get the Heisman next year also comes into play.

On the other hand, last night's game should move him ahead of Matt Leinart as the top quarterback pick (although a lot of analysts say he still has a few things he needs to improve to be a better quarterback than Matt). And, at the top of the draft, is Houston. Vince is from Houston, and would LOVE to play there. But a lot of analysts predict Houston will take Reggie Bush. Of course, Vince entering the draft could change that plan in a heartbeat.

So, UT fans will be sitting on pins and needles until the 15th. :?

A bachelors degree from a state college vs. millions of dollars. Hmmmm.

I'd take the millions and hire someone to get the degree for me :-)

Seriously though the guy probably thinks he is invicible but one bad tackle and his pro career is over before it starts. I'd jump to the pros in a second -- I don't understand anyone that thinks otherwise.

But, you make your own argument for getting the degree, in a way. If he washes out or gets hurt his first year in the pro's, he's out a lot of that money with no education to fall back on. Not that a college education is required to be successful.

Vince is a top 4 pick. His agent will negotiate a big signing bonus up front, which will be more than any insurance policy would pay that the NCAA would allow him to take out. I also think that a team that needs a quarterback will trade up to get him giving draft picks to one of the teams at the top of the draft that doesn't really want to be there and pay that kind of money. Heidi, I'm sorry, but with those considerations my money is on him turning pro.

It was a very tense day at work today. Everyone was walking on eggshells because we have a few people who are huge USC fantatics.
