I agree. Narnia was pretty good, even though there were a couple of times I thought it looked like they were on a sound stage. And it wasn't too kidsy.

Granted LOTR was much better, but he sure stunk up the big screen with King Kong. That was very bad.

Interesting... the reviews so far have been very good. An 'A-' average according to Yahoo Movies.

What did'nt you like about it?

Well, I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but everything other than the special effects were terrible.

I'll give specific details if you really want me to.

Kevin and I love Narnia. I also thought the witch looked a lot like Cate. The special effects were awesome.

Haven't seen KK yet. We will probably wait and Netflix it.

Well, I'm a huge movie and book buff. I read the chronicles of Narnia many times growing up, almost as much as LOTR. I thought the movie was done fantastically. The changes from the book to the movie were done in the interest of on screen flow and worked well for me. The movie's obvious Christian themes were present and really moved you if you let it.

*tiny spoilers*

King Kong I really liked as well. There were a couple of scenes I wish that had been edited out, and the movie cut down to 2 1/2 hours. The whole 'bugs' scene could have been completely cut imo for instance. And a couple of scenes with Kong and Ane were played out way to much, and instead of feeling a sort of attachment for the two of them, it started to turn you off to it instead. Aside from these few setbacks, the effects were top notch, the fight with kong and the dinos were the best you'll see anywhere yet, and the 'old time' feel to the movie was done perfectly.

There are seven books in the Chronicles of Narnia series. They are:

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
Prince Caspian
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Silver Chair
The Horse and His Boy
The Magician's Nephew
The Last Battle.

Note: This is considered by many people to be the proper order to read them in, as originally published. It's also the order the set I got as a child has them. Many of the "Boxed Sets" available today list them in chronological order by when they occur in Narnia. This ends up giving spoilers for some of the "later" books.

Here is a link to the set on Amazon

Thoughts on Kong:

Briefly--I liked the movie, but I think Jackson made a big mistake with Kong. In LOTR detail was crucial to the epic quality of Tolkien's work. The fan base demanded it. I think Jackson thought there was a similar fan base for Kong. King Kong was an interesting movie in its day, but in no way did I ever feel it commanded the respect LOTR did and does. In Lord of the Rings he could get away with extended scenes of Gollum's internal dialogue and galloping horsemen and marching orcs, etc, etc. But in Kong it is just annoying to have overdrawn scenes because the story just isn't that deep or profound.

I think Kong would have been very good as a 2-2 1/2 hour movie--not as a 3+ hour movie.

Comments on Narnia: Yes smackdown--there are seven books. The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe is probably the most famous because in the old days it was the first book in the series, but chonologically it is actually the second book. The Magicians Nephew is first now when you see the series listed. Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, The Horse and His Boy, and The Last Battle are the other books. I understand that if they made money on Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe they would consider making the others. The professor is actually in the Magicians Nephew, and you find out why there is a lamp post in the middle of the forest. (No wonder he wasn't surprised Lucy found her way into Narnia.)

It is a fun series with a lot of good philosophical material.

I'm glad to see that Narnia is back to being number one.
$225,703,346 in 4 weeks

I still didn't like King Kong. Special effects were good, story was bad.

On the White Witch performance...all I gotta say is DAMN! After playing Gabriel in Constantine, she really pulled off that role well. I'm looking forward to seeing more from that actress.

Overall, a great movie. And I'd have to agree that Kong wasn't that great. I apparently ruined the movie for one of my friends when I "let it slip" that Kong dies. I mean, seriously, its an OLD movie...there has to be a time limit to this crap.
