TOPIC: Holiday cheer

To All,
If you haven't seen this already.
Though you might like to see what a EE with too much time on his hands and access to a DMX style controller (with 88 channels) can do. Yes, this is really real. Enjoy.

Hehe, saw that the other day. It's insane! I just feel somewhat bad for their neighbors, unless that is one biiiiiig yard.

We have a spot in our area called "Candy Cane Lane." I actually like this one better than Candy Cane Lane. Saw it on the news not too long ago.

Thanks for posting it, Dave. :)

I saw that vid recently, my cousins wife sent to me. And maybe I'm the only one, but I thought, gee I hope their neighbor across the street isn't an epileptic.
I mean after watching that vid, Can you say epilepsy test?
I knew you could. *ends mr. rogers impersonation*

He had to shut it down recently as you can see here . It was a 25,000 light display and as you can imagine it snarled traffic like crazy. Looks like it finally was too much and he yanked the plug on it. I'm surprised that his neighbors didn't start burning him in effagy. He must've had really understanding ones. A lot of people wouldn't take kindly to that sort of thing. Not to mention it'd probaly send your kid into an epileptic fit.

From the interview, he said all along he would do that if it became a problem. He'd contacted all his neighbors in advance, as well as the Sherrif's office, and asked them to let him know if it became problematic. Also, the music was on an FM frequency so you could tune your car in, rather than being blasted from speakers.

Ah well, fun while it lasted, I'm sure.

Still, no matter how you slice it, it was cool as hell. I can only imagine there were no people who kept odd hours like third shift workers nearby. Trying to sleep with all the flashing lights might have been bothersome.

It's too bad really when publicity kills a good thing. It was one thing when he was just an internet phenom, but when it was on the today show, you knew the days were numbered. People were driving hours to get there to see the show supposedly. Unless his house happened to be across the street from a walmart parking lot or something, it was bound to be traffic snarls.
