Is the Insta-Kill something that can be programed in the apps? I though Cranston had an issue with stacking so many requirements.

That’s a lot of different things to trigger - a monster dependent instant kill, monster dependent Bonus Damage, and an expanded Crit range.

Have you spoken with the app developers? If you haven’t, Maybe give them a call and see what is easy and what isn’t? My bet, having programmed the code to make expected damage charts, is that a bigger damage wheel on the existing assassin’s crossbow is easier than this.

I don’t like instakill effects.

They can be fun - but run the risk of several bad interactions:

1. Stealing the spotlight from other players making their choices / actions irrelevant.

2. Ending combat very early in a room, leading to several minutes of standing around.

3. Causing players who have scored an auto kill slide to wave off / tell other players to not do anything so as not to bump their puck off the kill.

I know some people like this kind of thing but I think it’s a case of too much of a good thing.

“I paid $100 to play true dungeon, and the some veteran player had a token which auto killed the boss before I got to attack, then we stood around for 10 minutes.” Is a new player experience this token could generate.

The opposite can also be true though - I think the party with Wil Wheaton that defeated Smoak did it with +2 Long Spear of Dragon Slaying - which was an epic story for sure and a great moment.

Matthew, I agree with you. Our Rogue played assassin for the first time this year, and there was massive celebration when she insta-killed the boss monster. But - if it started happening every Dungeon, it would seem problematic.

I was on a Crimson Isle run at GameHole Con and Turn 1 in the fight against One Boot Billy someone on the run used a Ghost Accelerator. Billy rolled a 1. The Rogue on the run was pretty upset about that.

I have always hated the instakill mechanics. I think that kill everyone else’s fun.
