Spending fleece on lotto tickets to win more fleece would not tempt me to make any but to each their own I guess.

People were so excited to spend their trade goods on lotto tickets to win more trade goods that they had to super restrict how many you could make at once- and they still ran out. I'm probably in the same boat as you with saving my fleece, but at the end of the day, who knows?

With the GLUT of bits, I think nearly unattainable is probably not exactly what I'd call it.

This would have been a great idea, before a lot of people folded on monster trophies for super cheap. Now it would just be allowing those who were flush enough to invest in MT's something they might be able to turn into more win for them.

Fundamentally I agree there is an issue, extra small transmutes with limited power, like +3 treasure pulls one run, 1 per run, grunnel's pouch of powdered gold (GPoPG) with a recipe like 1 fleece would allow more people to participate (new players need not apply at 10 fleece per run) and would allow for a more linear removal of golden fleece from the market rather than a stepped approach. If 1 : 1 tokens isn't desired, and recipes should be X : 1 then add 500 gold or a rare ioun stone or something used to "crush" the fleece. Options make it easier for new players, although I like the idea of silk or plank rare material being used to somehow "powder" or "make grunnels sack" as part of the transmute process. Dancing silks if they were still in print (that's something to say, yay 2023 is here) would also not be a bad option.

I have it on good authority that Grunnel is now a legitimate business-goblin in Shyport (thanks to a very small group of Patrons) and wants nothing to do with your Golden Fleece pyramid schemes.

IMO regardless of who is holding them there still needs to be something done to deal with all the 3 years of dead bits since they provide most of the value to bulk treasure pulls.

Even if we assume most of the bits volume has been consolidated into the hands of a few big patrons, maybe even because of it, we need something that will appeal to the big token holders. People who have already sold their bits may miss out but from a certain perspective they have also already been paid out.

I don't want to exclude anyone but something like treasure map isn't going to work here (at least not by itself). We need something that will entice the player who has a large box bits just sitting to slosh a large number of bits into a small number of expensive items.

Approachable things like maps wont solve the problem in an environment where people who can make a thousand look to them as their only method to cash out their backlogs and buy out the stock day one.

Only a small number of people have the glut of bits. Yes, it is a massive glut, but most players are not part of it. In fact, *I* am barely involved. I managed to scrape together just enough GF to make my relics this year because I was still holding onto 3 sets of 2020-2022 bits. Now that it is confirmed those bits are mulch, I have 3x three sets of bits (plus a few loose extra). I have played every VTD once to get max XP, plus every in person dungeon a couple times. And yet, this proposed item is out of reach for me...or I would be stretching to get it.

So, YES, I do think this would be unattainable for people who aren't playing lots of VTD. But, I am not saying that means it shouldn't be made, just that it should be geared toward the VTD crowd.

Broken record time: It's not just the past. Unless something substantial changes, supply will continue to outstrip demand.

Of course, it's easy to reduce drop rate on future treasure, but what is the point of treasure?

It's already lots and lots of uncommons and rares with significant MB% and the other stuff that people might actually want. If MBs become rarer to have total available more like antediluvian times, what forms the rest of treasure? More uncommons and rares? Not like URs/relics/legendaries/Arcanum are likely to become more common, and it seems like 3*/4* were reduced to make them less ubiquitous so that people had a reason to transmute them. Browns seem more common, but are people going to get that excited if brown% goes up significantly?

Can keep having variations on tinker (for like making relics instead of legendaries, perhaps). I've never used a folio or hitchhiker in a dungeon.

This is the price of TEs - can't eliminate uncommons like I'd like as I never card about uncommons when I had no collection or whatever to make popular stuff vastly more likely to show up unless come up with things like tinker to spice up treasure.

Percentages for monster bits, etc should realm relatively the same. Not everyone does multiple runs of each VTD or each in person run.

Here's a potential use for a few of your monster bits turning into Golden Fleece:
