TOPIC: Newbie!!!

Newbie!!! 1 month 2 weeks ago #1

So I am sure this post happens often. I am brand new to TD and am very interested in this. Am signed up to a Adventure at Gen Con and am leaning strongly to trying it virtually to get my feet wet before hand? Good idea? Bad idea? Anyone have room in their run for a greener than grass player lol? Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Jason,
If you do try Virtual, see if there are any of the runs that are designated NORMAL difficulty. They have started setting aside some of these to accommodate starting players. It is a similar experience but is kind of the difference between diet and regular sodas/pop. Nothing is like the sugar rush of an actual Live True Dungeon run.

Welcome Jason! As Spud said, there are Normal Only runs of the next virtual True Dungeon that might interest you. I recommend looking for runs that already have some tickets purchased so you’re sure to play with others. Or if someone offers to let you join on their run, you’ll surely have a good time with them.

If you go on your own, you’ll want to go to your app store and download True Dungeon Character Generator. It will have pre generated classes for you that will be good enough for normal difficulty. You won’t physical tokens mailed to you until after the event.

You can also check out the youtube channel for previews. How to Play Virtual True Dungeon is a good one!

Also, keep in mind, if you aren't able to get on a "normal" only run, you can still choose to play normal in any run that you buy a ticket for, it takes a unanimous vote to play other than normal. Hopefully you won't get too much pressure to play a higher difficulty, if you do notify the Coach.

Hi Jason,

As a first timers, check out the following topic "Merlin's Wishing Well - Free Tokens for Level 1-4 Players" by Matthew Hayward.

He gives tokens for builds for those just stating out. It is currently on page 2 of Recent Topics but will probably move down.

Spud thanks so much. I will definitely see if I can get onboard with a normal!
