TOPIC: FULL V6a - Sat 10:12am - NM - Double-Down - Playing Against Type

Bringing this theme back - the plan here is to play your class with a different approach than standard.

Fiddy - ???
Jason Robb - ranged Barbarian / melee Bard (paid & transferred)
Aeroneus Martellus - Hammer Elf (paid & transferred)
David Zych - healing Ranger (paid & transferred)
Ian Lee - ??? (paid & transferred)

I'd be interested in joining! I'm thinking either a ranged Barbarian or a buff melee Bard.

I'm in! Could play a missile-focused Druid, spiritual-hammer-throwing Cleric (probably resorting to a sling when I run out of SH), or healing-optimized Ranger (NB: still not very *much* healing).

I'm interested, as well.

This time around, I have the most interest in polyWizard.

Well... that filled up fast

Here's a tentative Healing Ranger , featuring:

- 3x Cure Lesser Wounds for 12, plus 1x with Carter's for base 5
- FoP: Dog for 4
- if I manage to hit anything in melee, I heal myself!
- terrible initiative rolls? healing!
- almost certainly the only Linked Shirt of Healing in the party! who cares, it looks awesome.
- Charm of Lamentation: if by my life or death I can protect you...
- weak saves, to help trigger Charm of Lamentation
- other questionable choices!

Things I don't own but would like to borrow:
Crown of Expertise (very important!)
Ring of Dark Health
Helbane Cloak
any spare Eldritch pieces to increase my healing bonus?
open to additional suggestions

NB: since this is definitely not enough healing for a NM party if nobody else takes a healer, I'm also working on options for Captain Spiritual Hammer (who gets 8 Cure spells, swapping Bless) and Celtic Flutist (who gets ALL the Cure spells). The Druid would almost certainly be most effective, but also the least entertaining. I was briefly very excited to build a Ninja Druid, until I actually looked at the tokens and realized that Druids can't throw Shurikens...

I've got a crown you can use and the ring, sadly no cloak.

OMG - I am very sad you CAN'T throw Shurikens...

Eldritch that you don't have in that build? I don't plan on running SRoEC.

Suggestions:
Stu-Pendous Pendant over Amulet of Vigor. Evens two attributes. Puts DEX at 20 so could run Thor's since +1 Sling isn't doing any healing thing unless there's some sling ammo you were going to use. Note that a bow gives Arrow of Good Wind and Arrow of Weal Wind as self heal options. I should restock on these as I'm really low. So, could run Io's instead of Thor's, but it's all so irrelevant as don't expect you to do ranged stuff, anyway.

+2 Deadly Drow Blood Mace.

I was assuming everyone would run CoAS since people like to do that. I'm perfectly happy not to.

I don't slide nearly enough 20s (virtual or IRL) to take proper advantage of those, but I replaced the sling with my (humble rare) bow anyway since it seems more thematic for a ranger to carry. As you observed I'm not really planning to use it, though I would happily borrow an Io's if it turns out that V6a has ranged-only combats.

I could go either way on this, but it would mean giving up one of my silly bad idea charms because I don't think I can afford to give up Brooching: Lucky Cloak.

FWIW I would also be totally fine with the party running 9x CoAS, and the Ranger being the only character NOT immune to surprise.

It would be thematic - considering you're carrying all the healing scrolls and potions, bumbling around trying to heal everyone while also carrying your bow and arrows...
