Kinda needed as the original one turned into nothing more than an argument over mask and vaccinations. Lets please try and keep that out and to what is news or updates from Gencon.

As I mentioned in another thread. A growing list of groups/events are bowing out. Think you all would like to know.

From the fan page.

We'll see what the net effect is.

With all these large vendors bowing out, maybe this will give smaller game companies an opportunity to grab the spotlight.

Though, who knows, maybe with the limitations there won't be much gamimg at all...

That's a possibility. I've read they are considering keeping the 6 foot distancing rule for events still. That basically kills board and card games, and makes others very difficult.

Yeah that's certainly possible.

We will see how the hotels handle it. If the hotels don't enforce it, you'll likely see breakout sessions of gaming.

If that fails, there will be speakeasy style gaming in people's hotel rooms.

I wonder if that's what killed True Dungeon. It's pretty impossible to do a True Dungeon run with 6 foot distancing among everyone.

Especially if it was a requirement to sanitize each room after a group went through it....just the time it would take to clean every necessary surface would lead to every other 12 minute block to be needed for cleaning.
Fall down......Go boom!

It was a tax on the letter E for branding and “Tru Dungon” and printing new tokens unique to the event would have been a financial burden to comply with and the tax for the letter E would make runs cost $200 a person per run to make a normal profit and reward volunteers. Side note Tru is already copyrighted also making the twisted temporary tokens require a payment to the copyright owners also. All in all just avoiding the 2021 E tax in Indiana “will b asir than trying to xplain in th man tim “

This is a joke

I don't believe so, going by what Derek Guder Director of Events wrote on the forums. And Druegar has said we don't and wont know the truth to why.

As to what Derek wrote.

Most games will not be feasible if social distancing is still a requirement in September - there's no way to maintain 6' apart from other players through a full game, unfortunately.

Seminars and other performance events that take up a whole room and are never really given dedicated space anyway will be handled differently.

Now TD typically is given a dedicated space, but I would assume they were planning on handling it differently.

My personal guess, Jeff saw the GC Dance was axed and declared if he couldn't do his yearly attendance and dance the Lindy, then eff it, no Gencon this year!

This is exactly what my company is going to take advantage of. It could be a blessing in disguise for us and as a result I am going to start promoting an event we have planned for Gen Con that may appeal to many True Dungeon fans...

A tabletop RPG game with a TD feel through a 3D miniature dungeon in 1 hour slots of 4 player teams. You accumulate Dungeon Points as you go along to be used to exchange for real loot at the Gooey Cube vendor booth? If you've watched our gameshow streams you will see that 3D dungeon setup. We are bringing it to Gen Con and would be willing to open up more event slots.

You can see an example of the game and 3D dungeon here:

Would love to see you there!

I'm curious, what about it has more of a True Dungeon feel rather than a D&D feel? I hope you're successful, you may be right that there's a real opening for alternative games this year.

I wonder what attendance will be like now that so many events are canceling. All my friends and I rolled our badges to 2022.
