Question, where are you finding this information? It’s not posted on their website, discord, or any official email I can find. My organization is primed and ready to submit events but I’m impatiently waiting for more info from Gen Con about what we are allowed to do and when. We don’t even have hours of operation yet.

Gencon has once again reposted those dates.

So event submission in 6 days...

When I look at my account online and go to "My Packets" it shows me as having a 4-Day Badge. This is the one that I purchased early last year and decided to rollover. It shows the original purchase date, although it doesn't specify what year the badge is for.

Here's the interesting part. At the bottom it says "These items will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Fulfillment will begin on August 1st. You can track your packet on your My Packets page when it has shipped."

Last year's Gen Con was scheduled to start on July 30th, so the "Fulfillment will begin on August 1st" part cannot be left over from last year. It makes much more sense that they would begin mailing badges for the September con this year on August 1st. I don't know if that date was announced anywhere else, but sort of feels like that is the tentative date for mailing badges this year.

It looks like this page is a soft launch. The links still have 2020 event info FAQ links.

Yeah, a lot of information on the site is still based on 2020. That's why the August 1 date surprised me. I was just double-checking the status of my rolled over badge when I saw it. I still take it as tentative and I don't assume I'm guaranteed a badge just yet, but I still found it interesting.

Even the VIG program doesn't have any idea of what is happening. Boozer's most recent response was they'll get back to us when they know some dates for us to make payments, etc.

Fred

Have they even told you how much those badges will be?

And now there is this...

Limited Event Submission for Gen Con Indy 2021
Due to constrained space and time available for events on our new dates of September 16-19 this year, as well as anticipated requirements for social distancing and safety precautions, event submission will be limited to a curated list of event organizers.

This list is primarily composed of groups that run sufficient volume of events to manage dedicated space for the whole convention, as well as some additional key events. If you would like to run physical events at Gen Con Indy this year, either because you have enough GMs to manage several tables or have an idea particularly well suited to this year’s limitations, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with a detailed summary for approval. Event organizers that are not pre-approved will not have access to the event submission form for Gen Con Indy 2021.

Expanded open gaming space will be provided this year to accommodate independent and individual GMs, though games in those spaces will not be ticketed or scheduled in our registration system.

This change is only for this year. Details on event submission for 2022 and beyond will be provided on the typical timeline for convention planning.

Existing events submitted in 2020 will be canceled shortly, but will still be visible in your account for future reference.

Absence from Gen Con Indy 2021 will not have any detrimental effect on space consideration or assignments for future conventions - this is a challenging year for many and will not be held against anyone. Event organizers and GMs that will not be attending Gen Con Indy are encouraged to run events at Gen Con Online. Online events will follow a different submission, review, and registration timeline, the details for which will be announced soon.

For more information on Gen Con’s current plans for the convention in Indianapolis this year, please refer to our April Health and Safety Update.

I'm not overly surprised by their limits. Being top premiere games only. TD should be safe due to the size and how much $ Gencon makes from it. Though if we are in the ICC or shifted off to the Marriott is still in question.

Guess my events are dead. I've tried years past running them in the open free gaming area, just doesn't work. If it's not in the program book, no one thinks you're running those events and no one shows. Even if you spam everyone with countless emails and a thousand FB postings about it.

Though they didn't say it in that posting, I would assume they may lift the restrictions and allow more smaller groups as the con restricts ease as the con date gets closer. But who knows. Just because they are finally taking event submissions doesn't mean they can't still kill gencon for this year too.

IMO a company that has been so outspoken about inclusion and no one is to be discriminated against, I think it would be tough for them to require it. But to my knowledge the indiana convention center isn’t allowed to require vaccination as a term of employment since the vaccine is only on emergency use only and dosent have the fda stamp just the emergency stamp from the fda. So even if they wanted to require attendees to have it I don’t think the workers will have to have the same requirements

Assuming that I have to skip GenCon again this year, does anyone know if anything's been announced about 2021 Treasure Chip tokens? I know that 2020 is valid through 2021, not sure about whether the 2021 tokens will be extended in a similar way though?
I play Rogue. Occasionally I even play Rogue well.

Requiring vaccinations is not discrimination, it is a public health issue.
