The skull should have been placed on Envy, the reason why I have heard 2 different theories. My group saw there were more points on the Envy symbol than any other and choose it for that reason. I have been told that all the lines on envy pointed to all the other tenets. Not certain which is correct.

I really did not like the leaving a note for another group concept. The note could be really good, "Skull of Envy" I saw 1 time. "It's all random" is less helpful, but not entirely incorrect. I am told that some group left at least 1 false not clue. I was part of a group that left a completely unhelpful clue, but it was true "Grunnel was X!" Grunnel himself wrote it.

For wanting the dungeon to be consistent from play through to play through I think leaving the note up fellow gamers is a big step away from that. The range of possibilities is too great. Now maybe there were more rules on what the not could say than I am aware of to narrow that variance down, but based on the notes we left (and forgot to leave once) and the notes we read I am not so certain.

I did not like the leave a note, either.

My runs had three different useful notes. Three different useful notes essentially answers the puzzle as it only required a 50/50 on part one with part two already having the answer.

I liked leaving the note. I agree it substantially changes consistency.

I also think tptb probably had different notes ready to go if one group left a "bad" clue, particularly if the next group was relatively new.

Maybe but my "It's all random" was a pretty new group besides me. I think leaving a note is fine, but not when it has the potential to flat solve a puzzle. "Skull of Envy." Know you do have to decide if you trust the note or not, but I think it just shouldn't be done for puzzles. I think the potential to break the puzzle or abuse the players is too great. If my first time and only time through you got a note that either lied to you or gave you the answer I don't think how I would feel about TD and/or the TD players.

One time the note left for us was “the grass is greener”

Seemed useless, but then someone after we solved it recalled the phrase “green with envy”

Not so useless after all.

I was frankly pretty useless on all V3 puzzles.

The rune on Envy was the shape of the pedestals if you look down from above. That is why they left the name plates in front so those that did not see it could after solving the first half.

Some of the people who PMed me said the rune for envy could be made if you connected all the labels on the table. That sounds like a "jeff-type" solution to me.

I liked the leave a note option. My group left a small clue that would help but would not solve the puzzle. The note we found informed us that our cleric was a spy!

I would hope a DM would tell a group if a note was misleading or wrong. What kind of group would do that, anyway?

We are gamers. We are going to do what we think is fun. For wrong or right it is going to happen.

The note reminded me dark souls games where you could leave notes for players who did the levels next. I really enjoyed it.

Honestly I wish this puzzle had been saved for physical. The limitations of zoom I think hurt this puzzle. It was difficult to see the entire table at once. It was difficult to tell that the Hate tenet was larger.

Agreed. The over table "video feed broken" image was IMMENSLY helpful for this puzzle, both for identifying one stone was larger and for seeing the Envy rune solution. In person I think it might have been solved more often due to those things.
