Did you mean to post about Cranston's here or in the UR thread?
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Replying only to the comment on the usefulness of Thor’s for clerics as mentioned. Further discussion on that should move elsewhere though, outside of the fact that I agree that there shouldn’t be too much focus on how Thor’s interacts with the Fighter transmute chain.

Stats? Check!
Saves? Double check!
Cool keyword? Hell yeah!

The ONLY thing not stellar is the crit range as a Thor user but I can't complain about the rest of the package!

Bravo Jeff, I'm making this for sure now!

Don’t fall in love just yet, it’s still early in the process. Yes, Thor’s doesn’t get a lot from the legendary. Unless we will be facing many more rooms with multiple monsters.

But as is, I’ll be making it.

And - power creep being what it is - I hope we get another Fighter Relic (or even Legendary) one handed melee weapon that might have some nice abilities that this token can tag team with.

Thor's was never intended as a top end melee weapon - it's usable by Wizards for crying out loud.

The funny thing about that was that before there was a decision to go the route of the class-specific Relics/Legendaries, Jeff had said that Fighters would be getting a Relic/Legendary weapon the following year.

During discussions about Thor it was dialed back to 19-20 for a crit range. This legendary now allows 18-20 a crit range for any weapon wielded by a fighter. If the concern existed for Thor's with a dex restriction for having 18 being a crit then this is overpowered.

The new revision of the legendary only crits on a 19-20. You’re looking at an old version.

Lol! Or ask any Cleric... or anyone who has to watch a "Legendaried-out" Rogue "back-stab" with a blunt weapon twice per combat.

As for comments/suggestions...

Amulet of Noble Might - I think it's a worthy succesor to the Studendous Pendant AND it puts shields back on the menu. Wish it had a little more class flavor though like an extra use of Weapon Specialization for Fighter or Taunt for Dwarf Fighter per combat.

Viv's Amulet of Noble Might - I think it's pretty great. Whirlwind Attack is a fun power that can be used strategically. My only ask would be to change the crit range to 18-20 for this reason; because of their ease of hitting at the Legendary level and Weapon Specializtion, Fighters often slide "clean-up" aka; sliding last to clean up a mess, bump someone into a crit, etc. becuse they will still hit on a much lower number.

By expanding the range to 18-20, it gives the Fighter slding clean-up a goal beyond a good bump and then simply hitting on a lower number... instead, they'll be trying for a more precise bump that could also give them a crit themselves which is a much more achievable goal at 18. And when succesful, it will be a big cheering moment for the party!

+1 this for sure.

I think it's easily obtainable by allowing the legendary to expand cristal range by 1.

I think this is actually right at this point, Relic neck is a solid stat boost, legendary makes your crit range slightly better and gives a second target, I think this actually turned out how most people wanted fighter to go.

Expanding Critical Range by 1 versus setting all to 19-20 would benefit 4 UR, 2 Relic and 2 Legendary weapons. All of them have a range of 19-20 except Io's which has a range of 18-20.

Io's has the same Dex requirement as Thor's. But Io's is not eligible for Whirlwind as its ranged. (Neither is Thor's in ranged mode, of course)

I'm all for expanded critical, it would allow everyone to have a good time and not take any fun away from other players.

I'm providing information. Here are some thoughts.. A small number or weapons are changed.. Most of the big hitters would not be changed. Averon's for example. Or Welfors.. Both would crit on 19 under either system..

Many are out of print.

But we don't know what weapons will come in the future.

The impact would be biggest in VTD. Thor's would crit 30% of the time. Io's 40% of the time (but no STR bonus, but others would apply).

The impact is probably lower for in person TD where puck get bumped, some boards are fast or slow, some boards have generous crit zones, most don't.

We don't know how much Whirlwind will come up. If there is an increase in multi monster rooms The more valuable expanded crit becomes. So we don't know.
