I attempt not to let groups know if I know the answer or not. Their working on the puzzle should doesn't matter if I do know or don't know. Then it doesn't come up if they want the answer or not. We can work on the puzzle. If we solve it we solve it, if we don't we take push damage and think how close we got, or how close we didn't get. That is me. Everyone can do them.

I prefer to give the other players the choice. I'll take push damage all day long if it helps someone else enjoy their run more but I'll also walk in the room and solve the puzzle in 2 minutes if they hate puzzles and just play TD to fight monsters.

But, as you said, there's no wrong way to do it (besides just spoiling puzzles without checking in advance, I think we can all agree that's horrible).
