TOPIC: Thank you Virtual True Dungeon Volunteers for the Playtest

Mike, Jenn and I just ran three groups of VTD volutneers through a playtest of V1 - Nymph & Nimblewit. We had a blast and we got some great feedback. A big thanks to Mike, Jenn, John, Drake, Lori, Druegar and Danni for helping get this thing ready to run.

I think we will have a good show for you in two weeks!

As one of the few volunteers who hangs out on the forums may I say the runs were amazing, and it is our pleasure to be apart of this. I am looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!

As for getting people interested, there is a saying about puzzles, "Never give the answer to a puzzle freely because so rarely do you come across a good puzzle, and you only get one chance to solve it." The puzzles in VTD are unique and engaging, and I do mean engaging. I keep coming back to TD because of the puzzles and I am never let down, and VTD was no different! You may be sitting at your computer but you will be drawn into the world as you try to escape the denizens of the dungeon. Your "friends" may say, "I would rather wait for the in person event, because won't that be more engaging?" to that I say, "NAY, the story will scratch at your soul, puzzles will bamboozle you, and the whole experience will leave you wanting more!" They may think of it as a virtual tour of a dungeon, but it is anything but that!

I really do hope your friends give Nymp and Nimblewit a chance.

My friends are people who have never been to a convention so they have no perspective of True Dungeon, I have hooked them with “an escape room, DnD themed, very high quality compared to the ones we have done together”. They are interested, but the concept of a “virtual escape room” is so foreign in their mind, they want some baseline of “what does that even vaguely look like” to commit to it. I /can’t/ say “it’s like True Dungeon, but on your computer” because that has no context to them, they have never done True Dungeon. Yes, I have said “like an escape room, but on your computer” but that hasn’t been enough for them to grasp the idea, they need some more visual to help them get an idea of it. I don’t think the video needs to show any of the actual puzzles, but maybe 5 seconds of a fight (not even with the real monsters) and 5 seconds of the “golem” walking through the dungeon at a player’s command. Just something for them to see “oh, okay, this is roughly what that means”.

Did the 90's TV show "Knightmare" ever become popular in the US? It was a huge hit in the UK and is a good comparison for True Dungeon.

My apologies, the names I see frequently on the forums do match the names of the people I have met in person, and that is a drop in the bucket to the total number of volunteers needed to make all the shows happen, so I guess I was only speaking for those that do not frequent the forums and thus would not see this, but I truly have no idea what that number is.
