Requires a webcam or camera capability on your phone on the Zoom call.

Thanks! I've got camera capability on my phone, I just have to load Zoom and figure it out. (Smak, I'm with you on getting dragged into the 21st century). :)

As a result of all of this, are we saying there is yet another app required to verify tokens? I can't stress enough that my apparently, hopelessly outdated phone (Galaxy S5) will not let me download any apps. Just the core systems are taking up 96% of memory and while I keep clearing the cache, it still doesn't always let me download emails. Yes, I will be upgrading. No, it's not going to happen in the next month or two. But if I can put this on my iPad, then I will be ok.

Im jumping on to this question because my dad, who has become an avid player over the last few years, owns a flip phone and has absolutely no interest in ever upgrading to any kind of smart phone. He doesnt own an IPad or anything that can use apps, unless these things for TD can be downloaded to a desktop or laptop computer.

So is he just... out of luck?

Zoom can be downloaded to a desktop, but the desktop will need a microphone and should have a camera.

The support app works on iPhones, iPads and a similar app will be available on Android. If the Desktop runs a MacOS, there are options to run iPhone apps on Mac's, but with the release in October of the latest MacOS, Macs will be able to run iPhone/iPad apps natively.

There are Android Emulators for Windows 10, that allow users to run Android apps in a Windows 10 environment.

It says this on zoom.us/pricing for the free version: "40 mins limit on group meetings" Isn't that a problem with a 2 hour VTD adventure?

Only the host (TD) needs to the paid version. Everyone else can use the free version.

If we are having swag/treasure for more than a single ticket in a run mailed to us, will it be divided up for each of those tickets, or will it be combined such that you can't sort out which tokens a player earned?

I want to use my laptop to see on a larger screen, but it is really old and would be awkward to use it's camera for anything (if it even works), so I was hoping to use my phone for audio and camera. If not allowed, I will need to 'reserve' the family tablet for the timeslot.

On #4, that's what I hope to do also. Follow the adventure on the computer, and use my cell phone for the audio and the camera (to verify tokens). That's kind of what we did on the WYC D&D virtual game. I guess I'll need zoom on both computer and phone, and log in on both simultaneously.

2 screens was done in our patron run without issue. That was one user though, not sure how 10 players doing it simultaneously will work out.

The number shouldn't matter, as long as you're using the Zoom app and can turn off your video. Even if your device doesn't have a camera, you apparently still need to 'turn it off'. Then, TD sets their view to not show meeting attendees that don't have video active. At least in the patron runs, that was how it worked. They may have another solution by the next event. But in either case it hopefully shouldn't matter how many people are using multiple devices.

Q: Can I use consumable (potion, scroll, etc.) tokens? A: Yes. Since you cannot turn them in to the DM, you can either dispose of the token(s) or you can place the token(s) in a special envelope labeled “Jeff made me give this to you”. You have to bring the envelop to your next live TD event and then you have to give it to a new player.

You will have to use Zoom to play this event. It is highly recommended you get a computer with a monitor to play. The graphical experience will be better -- just like it is with some computer games.

Thank for not saying "read the FAQ."

And now I'm off to read the FAQ.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Thanks, Jeff! I plan on using my computer monitor to play, and my phone for audio plus the video to verify my tokens. :)

Neat! Some new players might get some nice surprises, especially if someone uses a consumable like Fallen Star Mushroom or UR Special. :)

He might be able to use Google's ARC Welder plug-in for Chrome to run the app. I will update when we know more.
