TOPIC: Update on Adventures at Origins

Update on Adventures at Origins 5 years 1 month ago #1

For various reasons we have decided to start the adventure year for 2019 at Origins Game Fair in June. We will present "E1 - Abyssal Swamp" and "E2 - Path of Death", and we will also offer a low-cost "TD Lite" type event as well. More info will be made available in March.

I know that some of you may be disappointed that you cannot play N2 or N3 at Origins, but this change will not only make Origins more special -- it will also allow us to gather some player feedback on two of the three adventures before we present their "enhanced" versions at Gen Con in August. This will also end the confusion and issues we had last year at Origins with having to stock two different "years" of tokens for free player starter packs, treasure draws and tokens sold in the onsite TD store.

Thank you for your understanding, and please accept my apologies if you have to miss out on a planned N2 or N3 adventure at Origins.

Will GT runs still happen at Gen Con, or will they be moving to Origins?

Along a similar line, if one has not used their Rod of 7 Parts voucher for the 2018 season, will they be able to claim and use it at Origins?

The GT runs will still be at Gen Con. There will be 2 slots available for each of the 3 adventures for a total of 60 GTs being available to find.

Will 2018 treasure chips be honored at Origins ? Yes...I guess we will bring a limited number of 2018 Treasure Draws that will be available in the token transmuting room.

Another option would be to allow 2018 chips to be used for 2019 treasure, if you'd like.

So, just to draw out a conclusion here. There WILL be an E3 adventure at gencon...but the E3 adventure will NEVER* be at origins. Correct?

*barring some E3 retro dungeon years down the line.
this is not a signature.

Is there any thought to doing “silver ticket” shakedown runs at Origins?
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

This is correct. E-3 will be at Gen Con, but not at Origins.

Perhaps we could do it in 2020, but it is too late for 2019.
