I haven't done the math, but if one assumes the lowest published preorder price es for all items, I would imagine you can get close to the 250 to 300 number.

The addition of golden fleece messes with the prices a bit from historic relics, though. Based on the prices I paid from the blitz of auctions on trade goods, the Lute of Free fury is going to cost $194.75 in trade goods, but that is not including the fleece since I already have one on hand. That brings the relic to just under $300.

I imagine if I bought a whole super condensed 8K pack and sold off everything but the trade goods, the cost would be substantially less.

Interesting. I did the same analysis for Greater Shaman's Necklace. I used the pricing on Wade's 2nd auction to baseline the price for trade goods. The Necklace was just over $350 using those numbers (Fleece included). I wonder if the Lute requires more Planks/Stones/Silk. I'll have to look when I get a moment.

Plank, Silk, and Stones are the most common ingredients by number in the lute, and the 2 recipies are really close, with the necklace needing more dwarven steel in place of some of the cheaper ingredients. I participated in the last 4 auctions, putting low bids in on each one on many trade goods, and never updating my bids, so I may have gotten better than average prices than just picking one auction for all the goods.

*edit*, or I may have a bug in my equation in excel and its giving me the wrong price. That is always a possibility.

Is your equation:

$194.75
UR Lute (~$95)
Golden Fleece? (~$45)

If so, I guess they do pretty much cost the same.

Yeah, that looks about right. Since I already have the monster bits for the fleece, I just left it off of the equation.

*Edit*
It would be interesting to look at a 8k super condensed pack and look at what the cost of trade goods actually is if you were to sell off everything else. Maybe I'm wrong that it would be substantially less expensive than auction prices, but my guess is the reason completed relics end up at the prices they do is because the people with lots of trade goods really aren't paying much more than the final price.

And I'm totally good with that. They provide a much needed service for folks like me...I can't just throw down orders to TD willy nilly, but I do have the interest and means to seek out the occasional relic.

Kirk and Trent really are two of the nicest people I've ever dealt with in pursuing my gaming hobbies. I can't ever remember a Magic dealer who made me feel grateful to hand over hard-earned money.
