TOPIC: Spur of the moment con trip

Spur of the moment con trip 5 years 7 months ago #1

So, debating just sorta throwing together a spur of the moment trip to this party with my wife. I gave never been here before but I also hear Madison is a pretty cool city.

What I'm hoping to find out is whether or not the ship of reasonableness has sailed if I intended to do some full-time TD volunteering. For that matter, would most tickets be sold out for TD runs and would lodgings potentially be an issue? The only other big TD con I have done has been gencon, so I feel like my perspective of time tables is kinda warped as a result (the whole- 'get everything set up at least half a year ahead of time or be SOL' kinda thing).

Plenty of tickets available.

Hotels will not be a problem, although the close ones are sold out. Most people are driving from their hotel anyway. Parking is plentiful and free. (Although its Wisconsin in November. The walk from car to convention center can be brisk)

Volunteer sign up time has passed. Though it never hurts to ask.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Parking is easy. They have a huge free lot next to the convention center. I am staying further away and driving in this year.

If you want to organize a full run, there are many runs with all 10 slots still available. Particularly on Thursday.

It's actually looking like things are shaping up to favor a trip to PAX this January instead. XD

Volunteering for Pax hasn't opened yet, so that's a plus for you.

Are you sure about this? I was looking at the volunteer site and it is saying "ANYONE interested in volunteering must fill out this form by September 26th, 2018.".

Curious. Volunteer assignments have already gone out for GHC. But give it a try.
