TOPIC: True Grind & Gamehole Con

Hi all!

Lately, I haven't been able to talk to Jeff (for understandable reasons, given his family situation) so I haven't been able to finalize details for True Grind at Gamehole Con.

I am willing and interested in running Grind at Gamehole Con, just like last year. I just need to get the official okay from Jeff.

Last year, the Grind schedule overlapped with the main dungeon a lot, which resulted in a lot of TD volunteers being unable to play Grind. Looking at the run schedule the main TD dungeon has:

Thursday - 11:36 AM - 8:37 PM
Friday - 11:37 AM - 8:36 PM
Saturday - 9:24 AM - 6:13 PM

I assume that volunteers have staggered start/end times based on their room so someone in Room 7 would start and end much later than someone in Room 1.

If Jeff approves Grind for this year, I would want to try and have several runs outside of the main dungeon times.

For example, we could have Thursday and Friday morning Grind runs at 8 AM, 9 AM, 10 AM, and 11 AM. That would let many volunteers play. And Saturday runs at 8 AM and 9 AM.

The remaining runs would be in the afternoon or evening. I suppose we could potentially do 10 PM or 11 PM runs on Thursday or Friday.

Normally, I design a completely different Grind for each con, including Gamehole Con (and previously WYC) which I am still willing to do. But for those who missed True Grind at GenCon, I'd also consider running the GenCon Grind if the whole party wants to. So my proposal would be that Grind defaults to the new Gamehole Con adventure but if the whole party agrees I could run the GenCon module. (Of course that would require a bit more setup with all the combat boards).

So, what do people think, especially about the proposed times?

The reason I'm posting this on the forums now is to get feedback on the schedule. So when I do finally hear back from Jeff and if he approves Grind at Gamehole Con, I can just quickly send him a schedule instead of needing to take several days then to figure it out then.

Sounds like a great idea! I would love to run the new grind and possibly even the Gen Con one (with different choices of course). But yes times that do not conflict would allow volunteers and even other TD players to fit in grind without worrying about it conflicting elsewhere.

I'm not a volunteer, but rught now my run schedule is pretty full. I would be intetested if times didn't conflict.

I would like to run both, as I missed GC.
I would leave spots for volunteers first, but take once they have had the chance.

Maybe set some of the times for the GC adventure and take choice away?

GHC closes at midnight I believe, so late start times might be restricted a bit. I believe that is one reason dungeon runs stop when they do.

Schedule sounds good to me. Looking forward to not killing whatever gets thrown at us!

Eric,

I signed up to volunteer at GHC, did any other Grind DMs? I'm wondering if I'll likely be joining you if Grind happens, or if I'll likely be in the dungeon?

To me, it is a no-brainer to re-run the same Grind we had at GenCon. Plenty of people probably missed it, and even if you played it, there were 6 distinct rooms and most people only saw 2 or 3 of them. For me as an assistant DM, I'll do a better job if we stick with the content I'm at least a bit familiar with.

Also, it would be great for me to be able to do some runs in addition to assistant Grind DM.

I'm not volunteering for GHC as I like that to be my con to actually do more runs. Definitely want to play the Gen Con module. What i saw of it looked and was a lot of fun.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

I would do two grind runs. Times look good to me. Gen Con version would be great because I missed it. New GHC version would also be a plus

Yeah I will be filling my schedule before events open Saturday (I am a VIG). So I guess if grind is added later I will have to drop things. That is fine though.

I will probably just do 1 grind though, would like to do the new one.

I'd run grind twice at GHC if I had the option to do the Gen Con one and a new one. (I'm curious to see how the non-surprise twist story would play out.)

I also just talked to one of the NPC volunteers and she feels that the late night time slots would work best.
