TOPIC: Clarion sold out in minutes

Clarion sold out in minutes 6 years 2 months ago #1

Wow. I was amazed at how fast it sold out. I started right at noon, so I was lucky and got the room I wanted, but by the time I finished getting the reservation done, it was listed as sold out. Plenty of other hotels in the area are available, but this is nice and close. (not to mention free breakfast!)

Ah, forgot that was today!

I had some IHG reward points to spend so I figured GHC was the best con to use them on with the easy parking. Booked a hotel 15 min out and will drive in each day.

Clarion is certainly nice and convenient. Was there the last 2 years.

Yeah, I was there last year and loved it.

Will now have to walk across the street, or stay farther away and commute.

I think some people actually prefer staying at other hotels where they have closer food choices. The free breakfast is nice, but there really is nothing in walking distance if you want to eat at night.

But other than that, yes, I prefer the Clarion. I was lucky enough to snatch one of the handful of rooms they offered outside the convention block three months ago. It might be a little more expensive, but still cheap when you compare it to cons in major cities. Of course living only an hour from Madison it made no sense for me to stay over Saturday night, so usually after my last run on Saturday I just head home, so there is some savings there. For me I like the convenience of being able to pop back to the hotel room to drop stuff off during the day, eat my lunch there or whatever.
