TOPIC: Transmute Room?

I thought I saw a communication go out about this, but now I can't find it.

Will GenCon have a Transmute room? I saw the one at Origins, and thought it was pretty nifty.

If not, is there a deadline to have stuff put in the system in order to get it back before GenCon?

There is a transmute at GC in the past, but not for trade items (Alchemists Ink, Minotaur Hide Mystic Silk). They do also usually announce when the deadline is.

Typically, the store shuts down 1-2 weeks before Gen Con. Jeff will announce the specific date a few weeks in advance.

I would recommend getting your exchanges mailed sooner rather than later if you need them before a specific date.

you will be allowed to trade old ink for new ink etc

but not 25 units for 1 ink etc

I believe If you are coming from outside the US, you are allowed to make trade goods.

So 25 units for 1 ink etc in that case

I did some research before going to Origins and found information that we would not be able to transmute for trade goods at the convention. Then I was doing some pulls after coming out of the N1 dungeon and a nice lady informed me that you could actually transmute trade goods there. It ended up being great that I didn't have to lug so many pounds of tokens back home to Michigan with me.

Is there any reason that this doesn't happen at Gencon? I've only played TD at one Gencon and I was so new back then that I wasn't paying any attention. Is it a space requirement? I thought it was handled well at Origins.

I think it’s a sheer volume thing. More tickets, more players, more loot draws. The transmute room would have to operate 24-hrs to keep up with demand. And, considering the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of tokens (just counting the legendaries) it’s a position requiring a high degree of trust. The crew that runs that room would have to stay on duty for 100% of the convention, and that wouldn’t be fair to them.

While making a few trade goods from your treasure pulls doesn't seem like much where do you draw the line, I've seen people bring in orders with literally hundreds that take hours to process.

Kindness goes along way, so does a Foreign Passport. They allow transmutes into the next form of UR/Relic so they take in a few tokens, over the con, but I bet if you walk in (aka nobody was in line) and you talk with them (because no one was in line, and they were in there shooting the poo anyway) they might help out the little folk who come well prepared for a transmute.

If you are only looking for a small amount you can also ask some of the nice vendors if they would do you a solid and transmute a trade good.

I'm largely asking for a friend who is just a few materials away from transmuting a Charm of Avarice. They were hoping to possible make some trades at the con, and then go into the transmute room and get a Charm.

I would say the likelyhood to doing the trades before you go in the room is high.
