GenCon Badges should now be on sale.

They sold out last year and were near cap the 2 years before.

I saw a few people have melt downs when they discovered they did not have a badge and could not buy one onsite las year.

Do Not forget to get one!

I got my VIG and companion badge earlier today. me and my buddy also got our hotel rooms.

it was my understanding that only the VIG badges were open today and only for like a week before the regular badges opened up.

People are already complaining about the rise in badge prices and the changes in the Hotel policy.

Bit sooner then I would have thought with the hotel, but the fun has started.

GC to me, wants to be SDCC....in price. the hotels have skyrocketed..the badges are doing the same

if I would not have got a VIG badge from the lottery last year, I would probably not do GC anymore. The smaller cons(origins, GHC etc) cost less and are more fun(less people)

All hotel rooms through the portal are now "Bound" to the account holder and are NO longer transferable. So if you got a double room at say the Marriott and someone else had a suit at the Hilton, you can no longer transfer or exchange them any longer.

It's keep or cancel the rooms now, those are your only options.

There is also a $50 cancellation charge.

Good reminder!

I think you have to buy your badge by midnight eastern on Friday to qualify for the housing lottery.

Don't quote me on that - but the cutoff is definitely before Sunday when the portal opens up.

from the last mail out

Housing Registration for Gen Con 2018 begins Sunday, February 11 at noon (Eastern). Note: Many attendees choose to find outside the Gen Con Housing Block. The Housing Registration process allows a limited number of attendees to get rooms at discounted rates.

Those attendees who plan to participate should purchase their badges prior to 11:59 pm Friday, February 9. (Anyone purchasing their Gen Con 2018 badge after 11:59 pm on Friday, February 9 will be placed at the end of the Housing Access Queue.)

Badge purchasers will receive their scheduled Housing Portal access time via email on Saturday, February 10.

Sign into your "My Housing" page a few minutes before your scheduled access time on Sunday, February 11. Once the countdown timer reaches zero, you may access the housing portal to select your hotel room(s). Please complete your booking quickly, or your selected room may be returned to the available housing pool.

Thanks for the reminder, Brad. I just picked up my GC badge. I've never had to book a hotel before, as I usually tack onto my friend's Gen Con itinerary. Is the Gen Con housing block as tiny as I assume it must be? I have a feeling it's going to be a long shot.
