People who would cheat the system will still cheat the system either way. This just gives people who want to play legit a way to do so without feeling like they may have wasted a multi year token choice if they pick the wrong saint for fun runs. Its on the players to keep the honest play here and less about TD having to manage it.

I looked a bit but can't find an authoritative forum post reference. I think it may have been discussed on one of Trent's shows?

But the bottom line is visible now at td.events/conventions/25HolidaySpecial :

"There will be NO TEN-PACKS with ticket purchase for this event. Virtual True Dungeon event tickets will no longer include a ten-pack of tokens going forward."

and the rationale appears in truedungeon.com/2026-token-collection :

"True Dungeon has been selling Treasure Tokens since 2003, and in all that time we have not raised prices on Treasure Tokens. This has been especially challenging due to special tariffs that were paid this year. [...] The good news is that we have taken prudent steps to avoid any price increases for the 2026 Treasure Tokens."

I recall hearing that there will be a random trade good instead of the 10-pack for VTD, and also that in-person free 10-packs with runs will get older 10-packs instead of 2026 10-packs, but I can't find a written reference for either of those things right now.

FWIW, I applaud these changes because it's much less wasteful from an environmental standpoint.
