TOPIC: Question about Partial Groups

Question about Partial Groups 11 months 2 weeks ago #1

Hello All, new dungeoner here and my wife and I signed up for TD at momocon and our time slot only has 4 people signed up so far. What happens if no one else buys tickets? Do they adjust the difficulty? Will we be at a disadvantage? Wondering what to expect. Thanks!

Welcome!

I think you'll have a wonderful time no matter how it turns out.

In your situation, TD may see if there is another partial group running right before or after your group and see if the parties are open to combining.

If not, you're likely off on a smaller group run. Those can still be a lot of fun, but I understand your concern about difficulty. Some in person puzzles are designed to accommodate 10 participants and can be more challenging with a smaller group. I think DMs, when possible, do try to help out. I know I ran an unplanned solo dungeon once at GameHole Con. In one room I just had to take push damage, it was physically impossible for 1 person to solve. In a later puzzle, two DMs, who weren't busy showed up to help me solve a puzzle.

The bottom-line is that TD will do whatever they can to make sure you still have fun. I think their track record is pretty good at that. But it is also still very likely that more people will sign-up for your run. I think at a new con like MomoCon, you'll have several people making last minute decisions to try a run.

As a last resort, you can always switch to non-lethal That will guarantee you get to see and experience the entire dungeon, even though you miss the risk of dying.

Also, as time gets closer, things often fill up.

Welcome to a wonderful game and an even better community!

Welcome Eric! Everything Dave said above is correct. Either more tickets will be sold for your time, coaches will try to merge small adjacent groups, or DMs will accommodate a smaller party.

One other great way to fill up the group is to recruit your friends :)

you might try starting by posting on the momocon thread, under groups forming, relevant info about your group.

time and day; your groups class preferences and difficulty level. - check out other posts there and you'll get the idea.
