TOPIC: Help! Gift advice!

Help! Gift advice! 1 year 4 months ago #1

Hello! I was wondering if anyone might be willing to help me out? I recently found out my brother really enjoys this game. He’s incredibly hard to gift, and even worse at letting on if he needs anything 🙈. So I’d like to get this right. I was unable to pull up any usable picture content to create a Christmas gift for him this year (kept getting DND references). I’m considering framed meme-ish art for his desk. It would be great to incorporate a bit of humor only those who know the game would understand. I’m also thinking about doing a character piece to hold related game materials..
Except I’m not exactly sure what he would consider helpful to contain. Is there anything those of you who play would appreciate/find helpful being made for you as a gift? Or if my ideas are on the right track, could anyone link some picture content I could use? I’d reaaallly appreciate any feedback/advice! TIA!

Depending on how long he has played, token specific gifts could work as well. By token-specific, I mean either specific hard to find tokens or something like a token carrying case. If you play long enough, transporting tokens becomes an issue. Basically, if you notice he has 20+ purple print tokens (or a bunch of tokens with orange or dark blue plastic) - a carrying case can be a godsend.

There are three levels of carrying “stuff”:

Level one: (very common) token binders:

Level two: aluminum cases (good but can break - hinges aren’t fantastic but these are great for storing tokens but I wouldn’t travel with these full of tokens.)

(Tokens are about 40mm diameter so 39mm trays work well)

*Trent has the lighthouse stuff as well at trenttokens.com at better prices, I used lighthouse just so I could find the right images.
Level three: heavy duty carrying cases for people with tons of expensive tokens:
(I recommend he 39mm trays from lighthouse to go with them)

If he doesn’t have anything to carry tokens, I’d recommend a binder if nothing else.
What do we want? Evidence based science! When do we want it? After peer review!

Hi Nicole, what a thoughtful sister you are. Here are a few ideas/resources.

Survivor Pins - When a character survives an adventure, the player gets a survivor pin. You can find examples on the event info pages at TD.events. Current pins are a 2.5 inch by 3.5 inch rectangle. Older pins were 3 inch by 3 inch diamonds. Maybe get a display case to show off his pins?

If you’d like to know more about what the tokens themselves look like, you can check out the token database at tokendb.com.

There are also a variety of token accessories available from third party sellers, including TD Tavern and Trent Tokens.

Good luck finding something he’ll enjoy!

You guys are awesome! I’m super behind on these things being 12 years older than my brother lol. My knowledge base in this arena is limited to vague memories of Magic the Gathering like 15-20 years ago 😳 🙈. So I super appreciate everyones help. Thank you!

Another options is gift cards, here's links to the two bigger reseller stores involved with the game:
