For me it was a Wizard fighting that Beholder with the anti-magic that seemed to just never go off unless I was also silenced. I was >< close to quitting. Glad I stuck around, but that was brutal.

I think the beholder was one of the monsters that inspired my party to gear up some.

I only played against it once though… was it also immune to ranged attacks?

Smoak was my last year for almost 6 years partly due to having a kid and partly due to it was fustrating. I think having Epic is helpful, nightmare can be a really tough challenge, if you want to be abused by the modules Epic is a nice choice.
