I’ll be going as a volunteer. Assuming they still need me.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

It is interesting that they're still holding an online convention on the original dates. I wonder if it's a free online convention or if there's some sort of registration fee.

That said, I hadn't considered the implications of Origins proximity to GHC, and how it might affect TD. I hope they can do both. Also wondering how the players would feel about conventions so close together.

I’m just planning on October being convention month. One week origins role right into gen con and off to ghc.

I ended up booking three rooms in case friends want to join me there. I have a few friends that probably would, but several live in Indy and they're GENCON or nothing. Except for Carbondale events, we always do those in addition to GENCON.

Gary Con just did this a couple weekends ago. Luke Gygax and crew cancelled the Con right as the Governor of WI shut the State down of gatherings of 10 or more people.

Virtual Gary Con (VGC) was an amazing turnout and lots of fun. I ran the original Tomb Of Horrors. The players were having so much fun we played from 9 PM to 6:12 AM.

VGC was free and many of the Vendors offered online codes for discount shopping on their websites.

Three of my friends and I are trying a D&D game at WYC Online this evening. It will be interesting, one of my friends and I have never used Discord, and I don't think any of us have used any of the other software they'll be using. The DM hasn't reached out to us yet, hopefully we can all connect this evening, I figure it will be an hour of figuring out what we're doing and an hour of adventuring. :) I'm guessing Origins Online will be a lot more organized.

Most people for VGC used Roll20 for mapping and such and Discord for communication. I actually have a free phone conference line and had used that for talking with my Players.

GC had notified Roll20 well in advance and Roll20 was able to do whatever they did to make sure the servers didn't crash with that many people using it at once.

We are using Roll20, I just signed up for it. This should be a very educational experience. :)

I've been using Roll20 for about two years now, doing a bi-monthly game with some friends across the country. It doesn't have the same feel as actually rolling dice around a table, but it works really well with the right group, and still scratches that itch. There's a lot of cool things you can do to automate a lot of it so you can just focus on roleplaying.

I really like how they did this. They gave us a lot of lead time, instead of waiting until the last minute, and included an online event so that people can still premier things at Origins if they want to and there's something to do that weekend still. Mad props for GAMA.

I have already re-booked for October.

I have DM'ed a lot of games on Roll 20 it has a learning curve but is easily to overcome. With a bit of prep you can have a really cool experience for your players.

I would love to sometime to do a one shot with some of you all
