Ok, how about:

Henchman:
Receives a special token that allows selection of a henchman to accompany player through the dungeon.

Class Title:
Select a single class to receive a title (such as wizard, etc.) and receive a special token allowing a special class ability to be used once per adventure.

Hirelings:
Receive a special token that allows selection of a hireling, such as: Alchemist, Blacksmith, etc. that makes transmuting items slightly cheaper. Ex, Blacksmith reduces recipe cost by 1 dwarven steel.

Ultravision:
Receive a special token that awards player the ultravision ability.

Inspiration:
Receive a special token that inspires a party member once per combat allowing them to re-slide an attack. Cannot be used on self, player inspired must be below 10th level.

I think the ideas boil down to:

A physical token that does something.

Swag that does nothing, but looks cool. (A cup, a pen, a badgeholder, a wallet, etc)

A non-tangible reward (token named after you in the next set, more direct control over designing a token or set, a special forum like Lords & Ladies but for 10th Level and higher players only, a banner on the forums, you can gain XP from doing the same runs, etc).

So the question ultimately becomes which category the reward should fall under.

I lean away from a token, especially if it does anything non-trivial. We’ve seen people marketing their MONs as “grants +1 TC” even though we all know that’s wrong.

And remember, the trickle of L10s will become a flood in a few years, so it has to be scalable. I’d love my own eponymous token, but they’re too special. People earn them for contributions to the community above and beyond, so I’d rather not cheapen them by making them simply XP-based.

So that’s all the things I’d rather not see.

What do I think is reasonable? I think the L8 pin looks pretty cool. Maybe just a new L10 pin like it. I don’t care if it does anything in game or metagame (like a discount on making trade goods) or not.

Only three levels out of nine (2, 6, and 9) grant anything affecting gameplay: may play Grind, +1TC, and +1AC. Six levels don’t. I’d be fine if L10 didn’t either. If it does, it should be modest. Whatever it does, any in-game effect should be minimal, if any. Compare to level 9’s +1 AC. Maybe +1 to a save of your choice, or +2 HP. A lot of suggestions I’ve seen feel waaay OP to me. Like I said, I’d be fine with nothing.

I tried to pull a list of suggestions from the other thread in truncated form:

1) Medallion of token with RFID chip that does stuff in storyscape.
2) Poke dinner? XD
3) Seasonal quests/rewards/bonuses (example was -3 fire damage for the year- ring/amulet of wonder style).
4) Access to a bonus 8th room at the end of dungeons.
5) +1 treasure token.
6) Access to Ro7P prestige classes (cue epic battle and thread hijacking over this topic).
7) New badge holder.
8) +5hp to all party members under lvl5
9) Chipped token that grants access to an extra clue, or secret dialogue from a monster.
10) You get to have the artifact effect of the artifact of your choice for one run once per year.
11) Patron code?

I think I got all of them, though if I missed something or didn't accurately/adequately portray any ideas, feel free to elaborate.

Here's the original thread, if people were interested in seeing more detailed versions brought up pre-hijacking: truedungeon.com/forum?view=topic&catid=602&id=250583

What about something that is tangible but is also super cool.? Clearly if anyone plays long enough to have reached level 10, they would have some good tales along the way. All of us have some sort of picture before/after one of our runs where we had a blast playing.

So what about a 3x5 picture frame that is shaped like a token? Little star pips around the edge and all -as we are all UR level at that point. Throw the True Dungeon logo on there, Jeff's Avatar image, and signatures from the staff.

I vote for a golden rubber duck.
Friendly neighbourhood NPC. Do not rob, maim or kill. Else you take 50 points of irresistible damage and I come back to betray you in the next room.

Or this hat.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

As a fan of both rubber ducks and silly hats, I am 10000% on board. I daresay I am not a good representative for the majority of TD players, however.

You know that’s right. :P Quacky McDuckface is our beloved mascot.

Of course, it’s going to be 3-4 seasons before any of us hit Level 10, so this discussion isn’t immediately relevant to us, sadly.
