Wow that price has jumped from a few years back. From the experience of those who currently who purchase those ..... are they worth it? I know the housing block access has been a great benefit for some in the past.

I'll be getting on it if I can.

If you want a guaranteed downtown hotel room, it saves you quite a bit over going outside the block.

Even more worth it if you want 2 of them.

Your requests for events seem to get processed first.

There are a lot of giveaways as well.

Taking away the early hour of shopping is a big blow though.

Early hotel room selection is by far the best perk. If you want a second room, someone has to pay to be a companion. Event requests are the same for everyone - no priority for VIGs. SWAG is almost overwhelming - I probably brought home 20 different sealed games plus T-shirt, messenger bag, GenCon mug, etc. I’m really torqued about the loss of early vendor entry. Big pushy crowds make me nervous and cranky. The VIG Lounge is a nice haven to sit and regroup.

Has the loss of the hour of early vendor access been confirmed? I don’t see it mentioned in the email but perhaps it was just an oversight. If it has been confirmed, was an explanation given?

My guess is that VIGs spend on average more than the average attendee so it would seem to benefit the vendors as well.

Applying for the 7th year...

Is downtown rooms through the housing block still crazy expensive? Most of the ones I was looking my at was around $500 a night

I've been at it at least that long. I'm kicking myself for not buying into the program those first years when the program came out.

I guess it's possible they already do this, but I personally think you should get one entry into the "raffle" for each consecutive year you have been trying. This gives a better chance to the long-timers while still making it possible for new entrants to make it right away.
