Once part of this fiasco dies down for Origins the real question becomes:

How many badge credits does Jeff get?

I state this as a TD volunteer who got caught like many of us in the ticket Gama fiasco. If I wasn't getting a 'free' (gm) badge I'd insist on full badge credit and or some other tangible gesture from Gama. Especially since this is their issue/fault and theirs alone.

I know I'm not the only volunteer caught by this so Jeff should owed a few at least.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

since I was not attending I've not been following the threads, best I can see there was a big problem with ticket sales?

did a lot of TD volunteers not manage to get TD tickets?
*mental note* always listen to Jeff

More the not joke of Epic difficulty being the headache getting tickets period due to system issues (all on Gama/Origins).

If i was a regular customer who paid for a badge i'd be screaming for free badge for this/next year and or some other hard compensation/goodies. The hours wasted have been insane between 2 different event restarts and issues with incorrect credit card charges across the days since Wed. Issues are still ongoing but at least tickets are now generally available but refunds/returns are going to take more time/calls to shake out.

I got my badge via Game Master coupon code as i'm volunteering (meaning Jeff and Co bought my/other volunteers their badges). So Jeff should seek the refund/discount.

Hell, I work night shift, so I've had to wake up early 3 days in a row now just to get tickets. I've lost several hours of sleep over this headache of a system.

Correct me if i'm wrong Mike but at least since i've been going to Gencon (2012) the ticketing good or bad is over in a single day. Unless there's been issues years before? Rather be a long one but at least it's done. None of this well it's fixed we promise and fail again and again over several days.

Granted we on the forums obsess a little as realistically if we don't X tickets then the con in question becomes a non starter for a fair few of us i'd imagine.

At least finally looks like progress is made, and the system working somewhat finally.

There have definitely been years where they extended the card hold time for events to over 24 hours due to issues.

I'm not sure whether it's crossed days or not, but there were plenty of times (housing and events) that I was locked out of the system for many hours due to system crashes while all the tickets or hotels vanished. There was one time where I had too many tickets in my wish list and my wish list was frozen until all others had processed. There were a couple of times that I spent days scouring the event system to try to get tickets after getting frozen out. I'd guess if none of those resulted in any free badges, Origins will be the same. If they do give any out, that's great for anyone getting one. :)

I think GAMA did a great job fire fighting after the fact. But it was no surprise to me this could happen as event registration at Origins has been decades behind GenCon for many years. I even gave warning of this about a month ago in an Origins thread: "WARNING: Origins, unlike Gencon, does not have modern technology for game events." I had hoped they had improved, but obviously they haven't.

Hopefully adding TD to their events will brighten Origins future and they will invest in the correct technology to prevent this fiasco from happening again.

I see that in 2015 there were over 15,000 Attendees at Origins, so hopefully True Dungeon will be able to establish a sizeable new base of players there. I'm not surprised there are growing pains, but I'll bet they improve on them. :)

It has crossed days before. System went bork one year where it just collapsed and shut down for 9-10 hours. There was no communication back in the day either. You just had to keep trying and keep trying. Most people didn't get in until the middle of the night.
