Looking for ideas/themes to do runs at Origins. I am thinking about doing 2 runs on Friday and 2 on Saturday.

7 Token Nightmare (7 tokens include all TE's, consumables, and so forth)

Marathon runs (where you use the same character card and don't reset your HP between runs). This would be with the same group ideally for 2 to 4 runs.

-X to everything. All tokens allowed but when it comes time to record on the party card stats lose X. For example Saves, to hit, damage, lose X. Strength, Treasure do not lose X.

Greedy Sealed.

Greedy Commons.

Greedy Uncommons.

Greedy Rares.

Random Character assignments.

No Cleric/Druid.

Must slide a Y for hits to count. (this one if from MasterEd)

2 Wizards Walking into a Dungeon. It sounds like the start of a joke.....and kind of is. (two man wizards run)

Solo run (I am not doing any solo runs but it is an idea).

Not planning on doing any of these yet just looking for ideas for Origins since it will be a kind of repeat of Gen Con. I am leaning to towards a 4 run marathon run, but I think it would be difficult to find 9 people that want to go through the dungeon with me 4 times...lol.

I think a marathon run would be interesting. Alternate back and forth between the two dungeons and it should be possible to do all 4 on one day.

That is kind of my plan, except to do it over Friday and Saturday. 4 dungeons in one day are too much for me. 8 hours of dungeon becomes like work.

Polymorph runs (Otter runs being the most popular)

Naked dagger run (which is similar to an Otter run).

Have people play a class they have never played before.

So I would prefer to do the marathon runs for 2017 GenCon to see if we can get through all 4.

For Origins I would be up for a NC-17 (melee characters don't hit unless they slide at least a 17 on the board - regardless of to hit bonus). Open to discussion on how to add more skill to the Spell casters damage pool.

Greedy Highlander (Aside from TE tokens, all other tokens may only be equipped once for the entire party. That means if the Monk uses Ashers +5 in their MH, they cannot use a second copy in their OH and no other player may equip it either).

This would take some pre-planning.

That is interesting. Though I don't know that it would be that difficult. In you example of Asher's. I would think that you would just go down to the relic and UR. Same with Legendary armor, Cloak and so on.

The only really hard choice might be who gets to use an Eldritch set. As there are only 3 complete pieces that means only 1 character can get the 2 piece bonus.

The Eldritch set wouldn't be the only issue. I'm pretty sure you can't get 10 characters to 5th level using unique tokens, barring the inclusion of an artifact. Yes, the whole party can be 5th if you have Smackdown using his charm, or if you have Gertz with his backpack and sacrifice a leveling item to it. But not counting the artifacts, I count only 8 ways (this year), to get 5th level.
  1. Rod of 7 Parts subclass (which you have to equip the Rod for)
  2. Eldritch 2-piece Set (for Ranger/Druid) (using Boots and Ring, since you already used the Rod)
  3. Charm of Heroism
  4. Ring of Heroism
  5. Medallion of Heroism
  6. Charming Set
  7. Might Set
  8. Special (this year only)

Pretty sure I didn't miss any options for getting a level , but maybe I overlooked something?

True but do you need all 10 characters to be level 5? We didn't for our 7 token challenge.

You probably don't. I was just pointing out that the Eldritch Set may not be the only thing that isn't a simple decision for the group. I agree that for most slots, there are enough good options that the party should be able to reach a decision quickly. Deciding which 5th level powers benefit the party the most may be more difficult (though you may have already hashed out the pros and cons of those in your 7 token challenge)

I don't think that would be much of a challenge for Origins but it is an original novel idea.

Now if you started combining some of this ideas. Like only using 2016 tokens (it is a 2016 dungeon) and highlander......now you have something interesting and challenging I would think.
