Just wanted to say sorry again to anyone caught up in the fubar and I hope you were able to get together for gaming. We did end up having lunch at FBB's the next day and it was pretty nice. It turned out that Richard and Melissa weren't able to set out Wednesday like they planned because of a snafu with the dog kennel, so they didn't leave until 7am thursday. I didn't find out about it until I was exiting the airport and they weren't able to make it there until 1pm or so. We expected to be in around 8:00, but apparently took the scenic route into the area. Winding roads, road closures, and just an overall mess. I did see lotsa people with boardgames around all weekend, and the Hampton's dining room was doubling as a game hall the entire time. Hopefully everyone got time to play something.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn. On Friday, I asked two people at the front desk where I should go for pizza. They listed several restaurants (top one was Quatro's). I asked about Fat Bottom Betty's and they said the other ones were better. Then, when I was pulling out of the hotel, I noticed Fat Bottom Betty's was attached to the Holiday Inn! Kind of amusing that the employees weren't recommending the attached restaurant and were instead directing me somewhere else!

Ended up going to Quatro's and the pizza there was really great, so no regrets there!

I felt there were very few board gaming opportunities on Friday and Saturday (at both the Tasting Room and Champions). Lots of dead time just sitting around.

Pizza at Fat Bottom Betty's was made much in the same way it was at the Winery. But the cheese was a little different and it just didn't taste as good as the Winery pizza.

Wish there had ben time to game some, but travel troubles and volunteering made that impossible.

Brian - thanks for packing Terraforming Mars along for the trip... sorry we never got the chance to play it... or the 5-Minute Dungeon game which I wanted to try out. I realize in retrospect that all the awesome events, plus the driving back and forth, left very little spare time for gaming.

Next time (!!) I'll have to arrange my schedule so I can come out a full day early!

I was surprised how little extra time I had. I figured there would be more downtime but I managed to stay busy.
I do tend to get caught up talking to folks I suppose.

True!

I didn't get as much gaming in as I would have liked, but I did get a lot of hanging out and chatting. Possibly more than I get in the whole 4+ days of GenCon.

Sorry we missed the chance to play! I did teach Stu how to play 5-minute Dungeon, and he liked it and thought it would be good for his kids.

Hope you get to play something tomorrow! (International Tabletop Day)

Very much a reason that justify's the travel to small cons like GHC and TDC. Was very nice just to have a glass and relax and chat with TD friends and acquaintances in a low stress atmosphere. Definitely not time wasted.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

With how many times people have mentioned five minute dungeon, I just bought a copy with all the kick starter addons . I am looking forward to checking it out. Also, I found a hotel about a mile from the Origins conference center so I booked it and am now going there, if anyone wants to start planning get together for gaming?

I brought it and taught it to Stu - I think he will get it for playing with his kids.

Wish I could go to Origins - not sure I can swing the airfare.

I was surprised by how much extra time there was.

There was very little board gaming going on, on Friday and Saturday (aside from the scheduled events at Champions).

And most of the time, the forumites I knew weren't around, so I was just sitting around.

The worst was the 3 hour delay on Saturday from the last run to True Horde due to the eeeevil trivia (which I did not participate in)! I had to sit around for 3 hours because of that. And then after True Horde completed at midnight, I drove home (5 hour drive). And to think that I could have left 3 hours earlier if it wasn't for that infernal trivia!
