Thanks for the info. It is pretty disappointing news for me, I was looking forward to heading to Indy for token transmuting, and hopefully getting a few friends to join me there. I think Carbondale will be too far to travel, and especially since I'm sure I won't be able to get any of my friends to come along. I guess I'll have to plan on doing transmuting either by mail or on-site at GENCON (I'll have to do all the initial stages of transmuting via mail of course).

I am excited for True Dungeon and Jeff if this is something like a True Realm weekend. I do hope that it is extremely successful for all involved. I had a big group of friends go with me to True Realm and we all loved it. I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to entice my friends to do that again, as situations have changed since then, but I hope that tons of people do attend. :)

WYC was horrible (hotel was very bad)..i am so glad for the change. we were probably not going to WYC ( it was 30% chance because GaryCon is the weekend before it)

Can't please everyone. There was a 99% chance we would go to WYC, and a 1% chance we will go to Carbondale

Same place I'm at.
You can't fix stupid but you can TPK it.

I didn't find the gaming part of WYC to be bad. The hotel was not good. The drunken parties were not good, nor the late night fire alarm cause by someone smoking in their non smoking room. Nor the loud obnoxious drunks in the parking lot while we waited for the alarm to clear.

But it is a free admission Con. There was reasonably priced True Dungeon.I could choose to stay at any of a number reasonably priced and quieter hotels nearby.

I'm hoping we return in 2018.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

we had a room booked at a close hotel..but Garycon is the week before, so i was not sure if we would go to both

With only 500 tickets for Carbondale, a few people may miss out. If I can convince some Indy folks to make it a day trip, I am going to try and make it....especially if we can transmute stuff.

Looking at the maps this morning Im thinking Carbondale may be to far south for me to justify thr trip for a best of dungeon. That said Im probably still just road sore from the 13 hour cartrip I made yesterday after tare down and I might change my mind as more details are anounced but its going to be a hard sell.

I imagine that it will be mostly us hardcore TD players at Carbondale where at WYC you have spill over from those that are doing WYC as well. I will likely go to Carbondale but it will limit the number of tickets I will be purchasing because I won't have my local friends to fill in runs. So I guess that is good for me that I will be spending less money. :)

Looking at it more in detail I am surprised that it will be happening on a Friday and a Saturday and not a Saturday and Sunday. If ticket sales of WYC and GHC show us anything then Friday is very less likely to be attended and Saturday will be very full. Some more things for me to consider.

Having never been to wyc i have nothing to compare/contrast with. After attending ghc i'd have to say I'm ambivelant about going to Carbondale. Ghc was a lot of fun but functionally I did nothing but TD for 2 days. Have to really thing if the travel and time is going to be worth it to do it again. I was more glad for the time spent talking to people i don't normally get a chance to during gencon while I was at ghc.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

I did only do TD at GHC, at WYC I often play other games. I will still likely go to WYC since it is in Indy and is free to play.
