Yes, once you learn the "trick" (push down to release) they come out easily. Thanks for that good idea. Never thought of it but yes they would stick nicely to a magnetic bracer.

If you used the new magnetic sliders, at GC or GHC, please take a moment to fill out the survey so Jeff can see your opinions. Please don't assume that because you may have had a good or bad experience with them they will either be offered or not.

If you have already completed it thank you.

Time for some healthy discussion...

The new magnetic sliders could have a different color outer ring for each class. This would likely aid in players and GMs identifying the slider class quicker (without having to read the print).

I have posted the first "suggested" color assignments for the outer rings. You are encouraged to provide feedback on which class should have which color. I only ask three things:
  • Be constructive and considerate to others
  • If you change a color for an existing class be sure to list out all the changed colors not just for the one class (e.g. Rogue should Sapphire Blue, Dwarf Fighter would then be Gold).
  • You may only pick from the color chart below

Thanks for your input!
Ed

Initial Proposed Color Class (And Design Rationale):

All classes had a different color grouping, especially when there are two similar classes i.e. Wizards.

Cleric - Sun Pelor is the god of Sun.

Rogue - Midnight. They are sneakiest under the cover of dark.

Barbarian - Red because they Rage.

Wizard & Elf Wizard - The two more Purple colors. Purple is the color of wealth, and I have always felt wealth and wizards go together. You can argue that they are wizards that are not wealthy of course, just the associate I have between them.

Druid - Brown. Earth, Wood, Dirty Druids.

Paladin - Snow or Concrete (since they are the tanks of parties).

Bards - Silver works. Because a bard has to get paid I guess.

Ranger -Green because I have no reason.

Fighters - Blues because I have no reasons.

Monk - Flesh because all they need is their flesh.

To help find pucks that flew away and landed gawd knows where, I would make ALL of the puck's inner components (everything except the colored outer ring) out of the glow in the dark material.

Though I get the thematic reasons why one might want to make the "twin" classes (fighters & wizards) have similar hues, I wouldn't recommend it. Assigning each twin a different color will make the pucks easier to discern.

My suggestions:
  • Barbarian: Radiant Orchid because pink Barbis are frikkin' awesome!
  • Bard: Gold or Silver to match the color of the tips they earn in taverns
  • Cleric: Aqua (for reasons I explained at GHC)
  • Druid: Mocha because it matches the bark of the trees they hug
  • Dwarf Fighter: Lava because it's close to their beard color
  • Elf Wizard: Sky because light blue is associated with Shock
  • Fighter: Sun because yellow is the color their enemies' bellies will turn
  • Monk: Caramel because they show a lot of skin (hubba hubba! )
  • Paladin: Sapphire because blue is kind of the only distinct color left (I didn't pick these in alphabetical order)
  • Ranger: Hunter because, well, they're hunters
  • Rogue: I agree that Midnight is a good choice because of shadows & stealth, but I would also accept Marsala (on my monitor, it looks reddish) or Blush because they're close to "rouge" :P
  • Wizard: Red for fire
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .

Below is my suggestion which I edited in Paint.

As a former WoW player these colors make sense to me. I like grouping the Fighters and the Wizards. Monk and Ranger being similar also make sense as they are the 2-slider classes. Bard was tough as I felt they should have a "bright" color. So I took yellow from Rogue and gave them black instead. I wanted to fit black in somewhere so Rogue is the best choice I think.

All the primary (red, yellow, blue) and secondary (orange, green, purple) colors are used along with white, black, and brown.

Classes Played: Barbarian (65 times), Monk (56), Ranger (33), Rogue (25), Cleric (21), Fighter (13), Druid (12), Paladin (11), Dwarf Fighter (10), Bard (7), Elf Wizard (2), Wizard (2)

1. In terms of which classes get unique colors and which get shades, I'd tend to put Rangers and Monks as having unique colors with no shades shared by anyone else, as otherwise there will potentially be 3+ pucks of similar color on the table at once.

2. I suspect in the confines of the dungeon black, gray, dark blue, and possibly dark green are going to be indistinguishable from one another. I'd recommend getting a test strip of each color, affixing it to a white background, and taking a picture in low light conditions so we can see what is actually going to come across.

3. Finally, do the rings have to be solid colors? If not then this could get a lot easier, like:

Wizard: ---------------

Elf Wizard: ---------------

Or Fighter could be a half circle of a color, and Dwarf Fighter a whole circle.

That's what I'm most curious about as to how vibrant these are in the dungeon. This would help determine if it is best to go with as widely unique as possible or will shades work.

This is not possible but a good idea.

Well in TG at GHC we had Sapphire Blue and Violet and they were clearly distinguishable. Although the goal would be to readily distinguish one class even if you narrowed down a class to 1 of 2 pucks you still only have to look at 1 puck to determine which one is your class - as opposed to up to 13 with the average being 7.

Thanks for the feedback so far - very good ideas. Luckily I wasn't expecting to get a consensus on colors just some ideas to work with.

I do need to caution everyone it may turn out that we just use one or two colors and group the classes in just those two colors (e.g. generally melee and casters).
