At least with me, I think the confusion happened because I bid $X on Y URs, and, instead of being asked "OK, which URs?," Alan just placed the bids on the first Y URs. I think if the Alan had asked "OK, which URs?" that would have headed off any confusion. I think the same thing may have happened with Steve.

I'm by no means suggesting the entire auction is messed up or something. I still intend to honor my winning bids, just trying to make things better for the future.

$55 each for 2 UR was my exact wording. It was not item specific.

First, I want to say that I would also prefer a system where bids are not separated by each item. For 34 URs, the winners should be a list of the 34 highest bidders (duplicates allowed of course), all at the same price of just enough to beat the 35th highest bid.

As for this specific auction, $55 probably wasn't going to win anyway...I can guarantee it wasn't going to beat 2 of the $51 winners, and the other winners under 55 also have other UR bids at $56

Also, regarding closing the auction when it hits $8000; I LOVE this. It seems to be a fair way to discourage sniping.
...though, it would have been nice to get updates a bit more often over the weekend.

I appreciate the feedback that people have shared. To be honest, I wanted to play with auction format a bit and create more "gambling" feel to it - bid on specific items or use the buyout, but your bid isn't safe until either the auction closes or the buyout is used.

I want to provide an opportunity for people to engage and I'd like to be flexible for both invested, long-term players as well as new players with limited budgets.

One thing that seems concerning here is that as I tried to be more flexible this time around, such as with "bid down the line" kind of thing, people became less clear in their forum PMs. Going forward I may need to be firmer in how I accept those bids and how bids should be formatted, but I also don't want this process to feel too robotic, you know?

For my own curiosity (because I'm thinking of hosting an 8K auction post-GenCon but before the 2026 becomes available). Are you expecting maybe something like this?

The Buy It Outs would contain the buyout price for a SINGLE item. I keep track of individual bids on items, and let's say Fizzikx bids $27 on a Random UR. I'd go down the list and say "$27 > $25", so my bid would be outbid, but AlanP's would remain until someone else bids $27.

This provides the option for people to buy out items, but also keeps it more "I bid $30 on 3 on Random UR", and we go down the list and replace mine, Alan's and one of Beertram's.

Does that make sense? Would people be interested in something like that?
