TokenDB doesn't go into any detail. I was under the impression it needed to be the same Rod as the certificate, but that could be incorrect. If it's incorrect, I probably have several available certificates per year, as we only used them for the Bard back when he/she had the treasure finding capability.

Coaches Guide, page 12

The certificate number must match the RoSP number “to ensure each Ro7P’s sub-class is not used more than once a year.”

Technically, old certificates are worthless since you’re only allowed to use one per year.

Thanks for the clarification... to be honest, since I am a player and not a coach, I haven’t really looked into the coaches guide, just the players guide. I now wonder what other essential information for the players is hidden away within the coaches guide?

So, guess I will need to lend him the matching rod as well as the certificates... al three that I have are from this year, not old.
