I really hope next year's volunteer tokens are NOT INT Stones, since those really only help Wizards and none of the other classes....

I can't imagine they would be. I think future vol tokens will move to another slot or be slotless - I don't think we will see any other stat boosters.

If we don't see +1 /+2 Spell damage one year and +1 /+2 Healing another year that's yet another token set focusing on weapon classes and ignoring casters.

Yeah because this year's was focused on weapon class..oh wait no it wasn't. The DEX helped out AC of any class and sliding spells.

I agree there may have been more benefit to weapon focus class the past year Yeats but don't say it like it has been only about them.

+STR, melee focused
+DEX, Ranged and AC boosting. Boost to spell HIT
+CON, Health, general use.

There's been tokens SPECIFICALLY for Melee weapons, there should be tokens SPECIFICALLY for spells.

I do think that next year a Ioun Stone that is +1 Rare/+2 UR for Healing and damage would be nice. Only thing though is that of all the damage/healing boosting items currently the UR is 1, Relic 3 and Legendary 5 that are not consumable.. Maybe something like +x DC save for Rare, and +1 healing/damage +x DC save for UR?

I thought that Wizards disproportionately benefited from this year's volunteer token.

Wizards tend to have the lowest HP and low Fortitude, so anything that boosts it, helps them catch up.

Plus, with Mad Evoker's around, HP is especially valued by Wizards.

5HP is 5HP so I can't say that Wizards DISPROPORTIONATELY benefit from them.

Ultimately we have a set of tokens boosting melee damage, a set boosting ranged damage. We should have a set boosting spell damage.

That is a good point. My melee build currently has all four Onyx and Quicksilver stones in it, but at most may end up with one of the new ones. But my guess is every spellcaster would want one or both of the CON stones.

Only due to the fact that we don't have damage boosting stone options. If we had interesting choices I would expect some Wizards would take the +CON, others would take the +Damage. Personally I'd take the +Damage ones over +Con but I tend to use the MEC only when it's producing more +Damage than I am paying life or when another heal is going to be wasted.

Yes you can.

5th level Wizards have 21 HP. 5th level Barbarian has 48 HP.

5 HP helps the Wizard a lot more than the Barbarian. Similarly +infinity HP would definitely help Wizards far more than Barbarians.

Traditionally, Wizards have low AC. Monks, Rangers, Bards, and Rogues have moderate AC. Tokens that boost AC help them "catch up" with the Fighter/Cleric/Paladin, so these classes benefit more from AC items because it helps "close the gap".

Of course you could argue the point of whether Wizards should have such a lower starting point to begin with. But given the character cards, Wizards benefit far more from the HP and AC increases than say, a Fighter.

Yep. It's clear that the garnet is of disproportionate help to the wizard or any character with low HP. The whole point of raising HP is usually to get it to a point where the chance of a one-hit death becomes probabilistically remote. Any extra HP past that point suffers large diminishing returns.

Really? I see the Quicksilver spheres as essentially +AC and +Reflex saves. None of my character builds use ranged, so that is an afterthought but I think Quicksilver tokens are great!

What Wizard wouldn't want a boost to AC and Reflex? :cheer:
