Hi all, here's auction 4.

Again, the auction will go for ~ a week or so and the winning bidder will pay half of the difference between the highest and the 2nd highest bid or $5 on top of the 2nd highest bid, whichever is less. (For example, if the winning bidder bid $100 and the 2nd highest bid $95, the higher bidder will pay $97.50 for the token. If the winning bidder bid $100 and the 2nd higher bid $80, the winning bidder will pay $85 for the token.) If 2 people submitted the same bid, the first one I receive wins and the price is at par.

Winner will pay $6 for priority shipping. If the value of the shipment is over $500, I will get signature confirmation for delivery. Finally, I am willing to split insurance cost 50/50 with the auction winner if that’s requested for.

I will refresh this page around twice a day and more often toward the end of the auction. Given event registration, this auction ends on Wednesday, May 20 at 8PM Pacific (instead of 7PM in previous auctions).

NOTE: I'm fine with combining payments on 2 consecutive auctions. However, due to what happened in the past, I'm unwilling to wait longer than that. Thanks for understanding.

Will you entertain combined bids on the rod segments, or is bidding always on a per item basis?

Is your intent to either get all the segments you need or you don't want any at all? While I would prefer not to accept combined bids, you are not the only person asking. So, instead, please give me your bids for each individual token. Then, authorize me to reallocate your dollars from lower bid tokens to higher bid tokens during the last 3 days of the auction if necessary. Do specify if your bid is all or none.

While this is more work for me, I think this will allow the auction to run normally while satisfying your request.

Think this one through carefully. I can think of at least one instance where this option was offered that ended badly

I don't have a stake in this, I already have my RoSP.

If someone isn't willing to spend $750+ for all of the Rod segments, then just bid on the one/s you REALLY want :)

If I thought I could get all 7 segments for $750, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

But the nightmare scenario is to commit to spend say $2500 and only get 6 segments.

The only hard parts to acquire are 1 and 2. If you have those, you're pretty much committed just from sunk costs. Frankly, I'm not even sure it's possible to spend $2500 and not get both 1 and 2. I mean, just how much of an overpay is this hypothetical person going for? The worst that could possible happen is you pick up a 1 but not a 2 or vice versa. The solution there is also simple...there are people out there with fate coins still. Get one priced before the auction ends. That will always be your fall-back max value.

One way to do it is have the individual bids and a lot bid.
If the individuals sum to less than the lot, the lot wins. If the sum is more than the lot, the individuals win.

So you could bid both ways. Say you really want the RoSP 1 regardless, so you bid $1500 on it and $2500 on the lot. And, you're high bidder on the lot.

If the bids go to 1800 on ROSP 1 and 100 each on the other six, your 2500 is higher than the combined 2400 from individuals, and you win all seven, even though you were outbid on one of the parts.

If the bids go to 1000 each for a total of $7k, you lose the lot but you win RoSP 1.

If it were my auction, I wouldn't get any more complicated than that. Well, in a stretch, I might go mini-lots. Like, $1k for 1, $1500 for 1 and 2, and $2500 for all seven. But I'd define the lots up front somehow, or just say I'll accept the combination of bids that puts the most dollars in my pocket.

I think it's fine the way it is. Any more complexity will just serve to cheese off a different constituency.

Also, if a bidding war breaks out over the Dirtdazzy boots I will eat my non-existent hat. And then immediately flog the three I have sitting around.
