I feel like you wrote that out to make the techies cringe.

What is this “paper” thing you speak of.

BINGO!

I remember the factory where I worked lost its server/motherboard/doohickey/thingamajigger. the bosses were being told it would be 3 days to fix/replace. when the night shift came in, we got out the pencil and paper and did it all manually. now for the funny WTF. when the bosses came in at 8am and my line was and had been running good product for 6 hours, they were mad. they never did explain why.

People trust computers more then people, but speaking as a programmer who makes very official looking things, no system is better then the people who administer it. Either you have personal responsibility or you dont.

you are correct about the responsibility. something I forgot to mention was, they tried to use discipline on me for not getting the other lines going. I told them I thought it was the operators on those lines' job. when I come back from my weekend, I find out the line crashed by 10am and the plant had been down for 3 days. it was insinuated at a later meeting that the down time was my responsibility.

more on topic...someone asked if a had a buy it now price on the items in my auction.

Jeff, that sounds like a really unfair situation for you, I'm sorry you had to go through that. They should have been grateful you found a way to keep the line going when the system crashed.

I like your paper method. I've been selling my extra Bowen Marvel busts and my entertainment card boxes, and I use a sheet of paper for each to keep track of what has sold and what is left, circling the ones currently for sale and crossing out the sold ones. :)

I sell fire works on the side and keep my inventory on a yellow legal pad. I have it clipped to a magnetic clip on the metal shelf as soon as you walk into the spare room. as something gets bought, I take it off. I also write their name of what someone bought on large post its to keep track, because someone always says, "what did I get last years?"

some folks have expressed an interest in items not in the auction. so I have added the 2 most asked about tokens to the auction. so please see if you could use #26 and #27.

thank you very much. :)
