Thoughts on Canadian at par Jeff?

I feel your pain, 5-6 years ago the aussie was at par, now we're 70c to the dollar.

First up standard boiler plate about this not being financial advice etc etc

Given the state of the global economy, tensions in the middle east, China's devaluation, and the Canadian governments baffling insistence of devaluating our dollar to stimulate exports despite the aforementioned global economy pushing buyers out of the market I expect our dollar to stay low for the next few months at least.

The US has its economic problems to be sure (long term especially) but so many other countries are leveraged into it heavily enough to make me think the worse things get (barring a total black swan crash in the short term) the more people will flee to the USD.

TLDR I doubt the USD is coming down in the next year or so.

Oil is 27% of Canada's exports, and the price has fallen from over $100 into the $30s. All things equal, that's like a 20% drop in trade. That can't be helping the strength of the Loony.

Not that I know anything.

On the plus side for you the price of oil seems to be stabilizing so that might help.
I personally liked the low gas prices.
