2 years after the Bezoar Charm seems like a stretch. Shock or Sonic damage would make more sense.

I suspect the OP was thinking of a combo.

Yeah. I utilize both the Gauntlets and Bezoar charm in my build. I think those two combo together just fine.

I think it's appropriate that the Gauntlets still have a minuscule drawback even if you're using the charm.

I think that is a great approach.

I think that is a great approach.

-1 hp per hit is a pretty significant drawback. You have to sacrifice 2 slots to get the damage to 0, and one of those is a pretty important slot (shirt or neck). Even a -1 poison ioun stone would work, though, as then you're at least sacrificing slots that newer players are typically going to have problems filling.

I think -1hp per hit is a fair drawback for +3 strength.

The 2018 tokens with trade-offs are awesome, IMO. The power creep is there, but you have to negotiate the debuffs. That should lead to interesting decisions in builds, not just auto-pairing.

If there is a rare -poison damage it should probably be at -3 since both the uncommons are -2 and other rares like drow raider necklace provide a precedent that 2 poison reduction isn't enough for a rare on its own.

That said, I would guess a lot of melee users are also using ring of dark health and effectively are at no damage from the gauntlets already.

That’s a great suggestion - I can’t remember if -3 is where rares are at - might be -2.

There appears to be a range.....

2 of 3 are at -3.

I would say we shouldn't do poison. I would be fine with another damage type.

Smokebomb of surprise: 1d4 damage wheel, one use consumable ranged, slide in combat to allow an additional sneak attack next round. (modeled on the frequent uncommon throwing seeds)

The idea would be to allow the rogue to attack with a weak base weapon on alternating rounds after their initial sneak attack to in effect gain a sneak attack opportunity on odd numbered rounds (assuming they had a large supply of consumables). In effect modeling in a one round delay between sneaks similar to the base ability.

Both ideas are consumable so we could test them out in relative safety for a few years, and both would make the rogue feel more engaged in later rounds of combat. Given that most combats go 3 rounds it would also just feel good to sneak attack on the 1st and last round of combat.

To further raise engagement/not waste bag space on a class specific item we could even make it a low level craftable.

Kudo's to your Wife, Picc - those are both fine ideas. (I like the Smokebomb one best, myself)

Regarding craftable vs. non: What if it was usable by all (like the UC nuts) and only for Rogue gives the ability to do a second sneak attack? Kinda like Averon's Cherry which give the Barbarian an extra Rage?
(Note: Rage lasts all combat... Sneak Attack would be just one more Round, and some combats don't even get to that third round.)

I think that would allow it the versatility to be in regular token packs. But you're right that if it's only useable by Rogues, I'd prefer it to be craftable so it's not taking up a space in a newbie's 10-pack.

What about:

Smokebomb of Surprise
1-2-3 One Hand, Ranged
On Hit, the Rogue may Sneak Attack next round, even if she did not prepare this round
Usable by: All

Binding Smokebomb
1-2-3-4 One Hand, Ranged
On Hit, the Rogue may Sneak Attack next round, even if she did not prepare this round. Rogues may make an additional Sneak Attack after hitting with this.
Usable by: All

After all, it doesn't matter who hits and blinds the monster, the rogue can use it. But the more advanced version also give them an extra SA if they hit.

I like that!

It encourages Teamwork. Not that a lot of fighters would want to give up their potentially good damage in order to let the Rogue do (another) Sneak attack, but you never know. Or maybe the Wizard or Bard might help out.

Also great for Newbie groups which don't have the "Elvenkind" gear for their Rogue!
