TOPIC: Best Way of Making a Party Card

Best Way of Making a Party Card 8 years 9 months ago #1

I've previously been unable to make a party card because of not knowing what all gear people were going to bring to the... uh... party, but this year I think I'm going to actually be able to do it for all team members. As such, I'm asking what the best program for doing so would be.

I'm normally inclined to use the official TD site function, but it doesn't seem to have this year's equipment included yet.

Best for Party Card no question.

And if you know a bit about excel you can even do things like remove/hide the characters not being played (I just change the font to white so they don't show up).

It will be interesting to see if the character generator on the forums will be updated. If not, it would be best if it were disabled, and a link provided to the David Krause version. Lots of players are probably logging on now to generate characters, it is counter-productive to have a version on the forums that doesn't include any current year tokens.

Cool, thanks - I'll check it out. I'm not into Excel, but we'll see how it goes. I dug the TD generator because it was intuitive and mostly functional, but I'm sure it's a big hassle to get it updated each year.

If I use the Krause Excel sheet, can I print that and bring it to the event? Will it save some time?

Edit: Do you mean the party card as generated by the Excel sheet, or the sheet listing all the items?

A list of items by itself isn't much help... but you can use the Amorgen (Krause) Excel sheet to print an individual character's stats, or a party card, and YES that makes a big difference for the Coaches if you can bring it to the event.

You kinda need both parts.
The party card with list of bonuses isn't much help without the character sheet that shows what tokens created those bonuses, and visa versa.

Welcome to the boards and thanks for posting!
Great question and you've gotten some great answers. We love the alternate forms, just print it all out and bring it in. Yes it saves tons of time.

You can make alternate classes if you don't think you'll get the primary class you like to play and its always fun to see what your tokens can do.

I've been messing with the Amorgen Excel sheets and they're pretty great. I found one typo, but forgot where it was and it wasn't anything serious.

Definitely doing this for at least one and a half of our two groups this year.

I'll also put in a plug for the character builder app. No it doesn't create a party card, but it does give you stats to transfer. Doesn't really allow for tracking synergistic effects though.

The big advantage is the ability to easily change your build on the fly.

Yes, I did mean the character and party sheets, not the list of tokens. Thanks for the replies, everyone!

That's (mostly) true.

I've been Coaching for a while now (since the Coach position was a thing) and I've got a very good idea of what "reasonable" stats are... so if I see a party card (or a character card) with reasonable bonuses, I tend to just "spot check" things, rather than look at ALL the tokens which went into making the stats.

I'll ask, "What are you using to get to 5th level? May I see the token(s)?" or "I see you've got +10 Reflex save... nice! ... Which tokens are you using to reach that?" and assuming those tokens are readily available to be shown (ie, not "Oh, my friend Frank is lending me his Might Set, but he's in a Pathfinder game right now.") then I am comfortable with the assumption that all the stats are as accurate.

If I see something really pushing the limits, I'll be more likely to check. ("+20 Damage? Okay, I'm impressed! How are you getting that?")

Of course, any Treasure Enhancing tokens do need to be shown (and simultaneously, at that. I have know people who would pass a single Charm of Good Fortune around the table for 10 different players to use) but they're supposed to be checking those at the XP/Treasure Desk too.
