How would scroll: Faerie Fire work in the dark setting?
Would it light up the monsters for 1 room?

Probably would, if they were 'invisible' to begin with :P

I'm sure this rule will come into effect during a normal game or would it only be used in normal games of Hardcore or Nightmare? It seems like to awesome a rule to only use it in Grind games.

Drow Assassin Armor makes you immune to magical Darkness. Would it help in the Underdark and Shallowdark?

That is a good question, and it is one Druegar previously asked me.

The reason why I allow the Drow Assassin Armor (magical darkness) to work along with the Goggles of Seeing and Scroll of Light (both non-magical darkness) is so we don't have to debate the metaphysical nature of the Underdark.

For example, in some settings, the Underdark emits radiation without which Drow items will decay in sunlight. On Faerun, it is called "Faerzress" and is considered "magical radiation":

So I figured it wasn't worth the bother of trying to figure out what parts of the "natural Underdark environment" were magical vs non-magical! B)

Yes.

If you use an effect that normally affects all monsters, in the darkness of the Underdark, it will only affect monsters you can see (e.g. through darkvision or with a light source).

Yes it is! B)

(It is kind of how in a typical Grind, a lot of the monsters from future rounds may actually be "around" but might not be visible / detectable / targetable until it is their turn to come out.)

Are the non-humans considered to have any vision in the darkness?

I asked, since in D&D, Faerie Fire did not only apply to invisible creatures.
Also, they are "invisible" to you if you can't see them (a stretch in magical terms, but based on the definition < here >).
