Not normally required, but preferred. The ticket holder has the say on whom they run with, but I've never heard of anyone being turned away for a lack of synergy. Plus, chances are someone you'd be running with has extras.

Charm of Synergy and Good Fortune/Avarice are the main ones emphasized. Many groups have enough to loan around

I have a Charm of Avarice, but I do not own a Charm of Synergy. I may try and join you guys on a run if someone has a loaner.

For my money (pun intended) good fortune/avarice are more important than synergy.

I'm probationally in. Really missed going on nightmare runs last year, and Team Synergy runs are always best for that. Though it was amusing to watch the gms reactions when they saw my nightmare monk in normal runs.

My son and I went as Druid and Barbarian kitted out for nightmare with a normal level pick up group of all first year players. The funniest reaction was of the DM and the Medusa who, when my son rolled a "2" for a fort save against stoning, both said "Beef to stone" and after being asked to check his stats went "WTF!" long form version. She stoned most of the other players (I didn't have many silver mirrors) but died in the second round.
