TOPIC: WYC Sat (Grind@9AM, Run@8PM): FULL

Re: Need more players for WYC 2015 9 years 1 month ago #13

Lets post up our builds. I suspect we will be fine for nightmare dungeon.

Our druid will have RoSP, SRoEC, Lenses of Divine Sight, Gloves of Healing and Ring of Focus (maybe Greater Ring depending on timing and trades). Healing wont be an issue.

Grind? Last year I was in a group of serious veterans with a lot of orange in their builds. Hardcore was down to the wire. Let's see what we have before we commit to that. We don't have to make that decision until we are there anyway.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

First of all let's talk about Synergy. I will have three Charms of Avarice (one for me, two to share) and 7 Charms of Good Fortune, so for the dungeon run at least please be sure to leave the necessary slots to borrow those if you don't have them already.

For the Charm of Synergy, I have one for me and four to share (assuming nobody buys some of them between now and WYC). Does anybody else have any?

They made me select difficulty for our dungeon run (Nightmare), but I'm not sure if TrueGrind will be the same. It said that they wanted to be able to judge the interest in the various difficulties and to help group parties (not an issue for us). So we may have to decide in advance.

I did TrueGrind in Hardcore mode at GenCon last year and we did pretty well but ended with a TPK. I was the only one with any orange though (and even then it was just the girdle, bracers, and cloak) My melee weapon was the Scepter of Might and my offhand was the Orb of Might. So quite a bit less powerful than my melee values now.

IMO, for TrueGrind, I'd rather have a TPK on Hardcore than play normal and have it be too easy. In my mind TrueGrind is supposed to be brutal. So I enjoyed my experience. It will also depend on how much I can transmute before TrueGrind (I'm going to be doing it Friday afternoon). Hopefully all of it, but for others maybe not.

I'll bring lots of consumables to share too.

Here is my build (definitely for the dungeon run, most likely for TrueGrind):
  • Melee: +16 to-hit, +14 damage, 35AC (for each weapon)
  • Ranged: +15 to-hit, +6 damage, 36AC
  • Max HP: 42
  • Saves: Fort=16, Reflex=22, Will=13

I have one Charm of Synergy. My son could use one. If he doesn't get one, he will go with Wils Dragonheart.

I will have a Charm of Good Fortune (or Avarice, depending on timing and trades) and my son will have one as well.

My impression is that WYC grind was a step above GenCon grind last year. But I'll go with the wisdom (or foolishness, as the case may be) of the group.

Probably the latter :)

Well, I'll see what others want to do, and of course wait until we hear anything official from TD about the grind events.

The caliber of the DM's running the WYC event last year was tops!

And Eric was downright evil. In a good way, I mean. Don't kill me please... :P

The design was outstanding. Particularly the three phase aspect of the Dragon battle.

That's great, an extra 10HP for each of us will really help, especially on TrueGrind :)

Thanks for the shout-out(s) cdsmith & Harlax!

Incognito & I are looking forward to providing another grueling (and entertaining!) Grind for WYC.

I haven't heard anything about declaring your difficulty level prior to signing up for Grind. AFAIK it'll be run the same way as last year - we'll have stats for all our levels, and we don't need to know which level you're playing on until we mark it on the Party Card.

Good grief, we are giving the DMs a scouting report by posting our builds. Now we are in for it. ;)
