Re: Podcast Questions 16 years 6 months ago #61
I was the head DM for that room. That symbol was actually MAGIC. There was no planned relationship between that symbol/pillar and the correct window/color - I painted it on the pillar to indicate the "magic"-ness of the room, shadowgate, etc. I painted DEATH on another pillar to indicate what would happen if you reached an incorrect solution!

So you got the correct answer in the wrong way - you still made it thru! YAY!

Brian

Thank you Brian, well then luck was on our side. So I am bit confused because I didnt see a way to look through a peephole, were we to look through the pupil of the eye to a model of the room with lines merging into a V or was there some periscope that then gave the clue? Sorry I am just trying to visualize how the correct solution worked.
Thanks in advance for any reply.

If you stood behind the panel (access to the back side was not restricted), and looked through the peep hole back into the room, from that perspective, all the pillars lined up and the markings on the pillars merged into a comprehensible set of markings.

I reminded people (often) that they could go behind the panels, but many would look at the back of them, see that they were not decorated, and assumed they were not relevant.
When I walked into that room... that was the first thing I noticed. I just didn't realize there was a point to it yet.
=]

A thought occurred to me as I was listening to the podcast. Is there any way that the riddle reveal could be recorded and then made available for download much like a podcast is?

Kim

The plan will be to try and record it this year. It all depends on how awake Jeff M is. We may still have to re-do it later... ;)

Hey, lets just record it a week later and send it out. Everyone sleeps in on Sunday!

Honestly, Dave is right. I don't do well with little sleep...or a lot of sleep for that matter. Maybe a good review would be good!

I have to say I really love the podcast - keep it up! I especially liked hearing about how some rooms changed, and others that didn't make the final cut. I also liked hearing about the issues that came up during the build and the actual event. Something I would like to hear on a future podcast is where some of the ideas for different parts of dungeons came up.

Just listened to all the podcasts, Great Job guys.

Don't forget me when you are doing Pre-GenCon prep in Indy. Always happy to help.

I especially like the bits about the 2003 dungeon since I missed that one.
NOW this is the Law of the Jungle — as old and as true as the sky;
And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the Wolf that shall break it must die.

As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk the Law runneth forward and back —
For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

Is it true that if you play episode 8 backwards at quarter speed there's a hint about treasure in the dungeon?
