TOPIC: Golden Ticket question

Golden Ticket question 9 years 10 months ago #1

I unexpectedly found a Golden Ticket and my flight lands at 2:45PM on Wednesday so it is cutting it a bit close. Additionally, I'm already doing all four runs (combat and puzzle versions of each). So, for those reasons, and the fact that I only have a few purples, I'm considering selling or trading the Golden Ticket.

On the other hand, having never been to a Golden Ticket event before, I really want to go. Can anybody give me more details on what it is? Also, what kinds of tokens might I get at the event and/or what kinds of tokens were given out in the past? Obviously I would hate to trade it away for less than I would have got by going to the event.

I'm torn and am hoping for some info!

I've not gone on one myself, but I wanted to suggest that selling or trading off the ticket completely may not be the only option.

For example, you might find someone who would be interested in doing the run for the experience, but would pass on all the token goodies at the end to you. They wouldn't need to offer you as much as they would have to for the whole shebang, of course.

Such a thing would require a certain amount of trust, but it's an option.

since I am the GT group organizer/keep of all that is GTs(only of what Jeff Tells me and is very little)

Ususally(it changes) you get one of each monster trophy, all completion tokens, lesser transmuted(boots, potion..not relics/legendaries) and now a GT button

the rest has varied year to year
Some years we get the volunteer tokens, sometimes we get a relic thrown in(2 years ago, i think)
last year we had a quest ..if solved, we got a Ring of Heroism

Sometimes there is a special room(with goodies..one year someone got a HoP in the special room)..it has been hinted there is a special room(cant say for sure)
2 years ago we fought a dalek(dr Who)..

it just varies is all I can say

2 years ago (2012) the Friday night GT runs fought "The Ogre of Whe-ton!" Played by Will Wheaton. If we slid a 20 we got a Mithral Coin of Fate, and three of us did in the three rounds we had to defeat him. Ine the bag we got each monster bit, each completion token, one of each trade token minus golden fleece, all the minor transmutes and a random relic (+3 bracers is what I got).

Last year the quest to get 10 mossy stones got everyone in the group a Ring of Heroism. The goodie bag had in it a Charm of Heroism, all monster bits, all completion tokens, 1 of each trade token minus the golden fleece, and all the minor transmutes.

My wife's had her engagement ring in it :) Gotta love Jeff and Lori for setting that up for me :)

So I expect that you would get each monster bit, each completion token, 1 of each trade token minus GF, all the minor transmutes, and possibly something special. Only Jeff knows for sure what will be in the bag.

Maybe I'm wrong on that, I thought we did get trade tokens. It was a bit fuzzy each time I went, first one was my first GT run, second one I was proposing to my wife. So I had more on my mind than what was in the GT bag :P

Only your run fought the Ogre of Whe-ton. Everyone else fought the Dalek. (and I got the Mithral Coin, thanks to TEAMWORK!)

Last year the quest to get 10 mossy stones got everyone in the group a Ring of Heroism. The goodie bag had in it a Charm of Heroism, all monster bits, all completion tokens, 1 of each trade token minus the golden fleece, and all the minor transmutes.

Our quest was different. We needed to know the color of the golem's eye. I know I didn't get the trade tokens. I did get one of each relic last year, and was told it was because of Whirt's Bounty.

So I expect that you would get each monster bit, each completion token, 1 of each trade token minus GF, all the minor transmutes, and possibly something special. Only Jeff knows for sure what will be in the bag.

I would expect:
HoP in effect for this run (confirmed)
All completion tokens
All monster bits
All minor transmutes

I wouldn't be surprised by:
a Relic
a special room (instead of the quest last year) Please NO PvP
Ro7P #7

I would like to see (but not holding my breath):
a special guest (like the Dalek/Wil Wheaton)
volunteer tokens
a reward not available elsewhere (like the Mithral Coin of Fate)

Re: Golden Ticket question 9 years 10 months ago #8

In my experience, the price of the GT tends to hover within 10% or so of the value of the loot you get, at least if you were making the relic. I don't know if that's coincidence, or if Jeff looks at what people are paying and tries to throw stuff in, or what. The Dalek year I was lucky (or skilled!) enough to get the coin so I came out ahead.

Last year it was much easier to get the bonus RoH that you can't even make yet. And not nearly as many relics as this year, so don't expect one of each this time...

Don't forget, it's a $48 ticket, if nothing else, so add that in. If you don't have a HoP CoGF, it's like two or three, chip-wise. And you get to run with some great players.

So if you're worried mostly about profit/loss, you might come out ahead a couple hundred bucks by selling/trading it, but Shelly won't let me get rid of mine. It came to me "free" so I was meant to draw it and use it, says she, and she doesn't have to try very hard to get me to agree :)

My concern would be the plane schedule. If your luggage is lost or your flight is delayed I'm sure Jeff would still give you the swag, and maybe a bump, because he's cool like that. And you could probably jump into the bonus room, whatever that is. But it would still be sad.

If you are worried about being late/missing out, I would gladly hold your spot for you :P I am on the build team, so I will be there when the GT runs start. You would have to get Jeff to agree, of course, which is probably not going to happen. I would be willing to do it for a small reward (maybe some/all of the treasure pulls?) and give you the rest of the stuff.

I am Rogue at heart, so keep that in mind.

Ha, if it were a question of someone stepping in I sure you could find those that would do it for free or even pay you. Just saying.

No trade items in the bag, on any of the years I've gone on the GT run.

I will say this: The "starter bag" for the GT run has really improved over the years, and it's one of the big perks of going on the run. I remember on the first GT run, we were all surprised when every one of us got a "00" in our starter bag! (That was back when people were still excited to open their bag and see what Rare token they were lucky to get, and URs were a 1-in-100 chance since the PYP offer didn't exist.) On later runs, Jeff started adding the Combo tokens, so a GT bag contained an UR, some blues, and the rest were all rares.

The last 2 years, Jeff has included a Relic-level token in the bag (a random relic in 2012, and in 2013 the Charm of Heroism) and I think there's good odds of that happening again this year.

So if you're interested in giving someone else the run, while you keep the bag of goodies, you could probably find someone who would buy your GT for ~$500 less than the current going price (so, look for offers in the $200 - $300 range.) Be aware: if the Bonus Room gives out some special reward (like a Ring of Heroism or the Mithral coin) that would go to the person on the run, not be included in the starter tokens.
