Hey all, there is a discussion on the WhosYerCon Facebook page, and I was hoping I could provide some accurate info. anyone who went to WYC and is willing to share, could you post or PM me with where you came from and your spending habits at the con? ie. if you paid for the membership (even though it was a free con), how many room nights, and if you went to the dealer hall?
also, did you bring anyone else who was or was not going just for TD?
thanks

Drove 1800 miles round trip.
Spent $50 for 2 memberships.
Extensively looked over the vendor hall but didn't find anything I was super interested in buying, would have spent around $100 should I have found something I couldn't leave.

Friday night and Saturday night, Clarion was sold out so stayed at Baymont.

Was going to bring 3 others but 2 of them bailed at the last minuet so only brought 1 other.

I would not have made the drive if it weren't for TD. No offense to the con, it was super fun and I loved the layout and the fact they could pretty much do whatever they wanted at the hotel.
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

My Wife and I came from Cincinnati. We both came for gaming, the dealers hall (didn't buy anything... spent too much on Tokens) and TD. We both purchased the membership. It was our first time, but will definitely be back... we loved the layout and more laid back atmosphere.

We also stayed at the Baymont Friday night and went to the con on Friday and Saturday

I travelled several thousand miles to attend the Con.
I got a (paid) membership but declined the shirt/loot bag. I did a small donation for a die.

Stayed at the Clarion, but as a TD volunteer. When I went to book rooms, the Clarion was full and there was no Baymont back-up plan yet that I had seen.

Visited the Dealers Hall rather late on Sunday. Didn't buy anything. I wish I'd gone earlier, since I saw people with cool stuff, but it was gone by the time I got there. I will try not to make that mistake again.

31 miles from my house to Who's Yer Con x a round trip each day = 186 miles, though I slept in my own bed instead of a hotel. I paid for a membership and a white die to help expand the hotel space next year. I went to the dealer hall each day, though the only thing I wanted to buy (but didn't) was a treasure chest full of TD tokens. I brought two of my kids on Saturday, one of my friends brought his two kids, three other friends attended by themselves, and a co-worker I promoted the con to came with 3 of his friends.

Came from the Chicago suburbs (3 hour drive)

Didn't spend anything at the con

Did not pay for the premium membership (not interested in the swag bag or the die)

Stayed at the Clarion for two nights (but the room was provided by TD since I was volunteering to run Grind)

I went to the dealer hall but did not buy anything (nothing interested me and I didn't need anything)

I carpooled with one person (JimC) and were both there primarily for TD
I only attended Who's Yer Con for TD. If TD was not there, I would not have attended. Same thing last year. I only had time to do one non-TD event during the weekend (Battlestar Galactica board game). Last year I went to Who's Yer Con for one day (to do transmuting, though I managed to squeeze in a game of Twilight Imperium).

While I like the community feeling of the Clarion, I do have to say the food options were poor. I heard horror stories from others about the attached restaurant so I didn't try it. The continental breakfast was sad (egg patties were disgusting, no spray for the waffle iron, instead of sausage they had hotdogs, didn't even have any fruit!). On the bright side, the hotdogs were pretty tasty, and the orange and apple juice were very sweet (probably too much juice and too little water). And while Domino's seemed to be quite popular at the con and I understand it is a low-budget option, it does leave quite a lot to be desired in terms of taste and quality.

I traveled nearly 300 miles from the Milwaukee area.
I stayed at the Baymont 2 nights. I actually booked that on my own after the clarion sold out but before it was announced as a secondary hotel.
I did not pay for a membership this year, although I have done so in the past. I did spring for a die.
My son came along with me.
We did not do anything other than TD activities. I am contemplating running a minis tournament event there in the future as an alternative to doing it at GenCon. I also really appreciate the ample open gaming space.

I second Icognito's thoughts on food. As well, the parking situation would have been improved had adequate snow removal occurred. Much of the back row of parking was unusable. The lot at the Baymont in contrast was in excellent shape.

I came up from the Louisville area (2 hour drive) with one other person. We both got paid memberships to help support the con, we attended Fri & Sat, and stayed 1 night at the Baymont since I waited to long to book the hotel.

I came mainly for token exchange, but we ended up playing a few games as well. I meant to check out the vendor area more than I did, but I only really made a quick pass through.

The Clarion seems like a nice hotel but they really dropped the ball on the parking lot situation, made me wish I still had my old Jeep. We had planned to eat at a nice restaurant one night but ended up getting food delivered thinking we might lose our parking space.

We'll definitely go next year, parking lot issues aside, it was a good time and it was nice to get to meet some of the TD people when we aren't all running around at 90 mph for 4 days straight.

Food trucks have not been a WYC feature in past years that I have attended. I usually drive in towards Speedway for food. But there was no way I was vacating a parking spot this year so it was cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger...

This was my third WYC, and I paid $30 for the full membership and the extra die. The token pack in the bag was a nice surprise. Didn't have to pay for the hotel as I live 5 minutes away. Bought 3 packs of tokens from Jeff and a treasure chest of random tokens from a vendor ($25), which yielded a Lich Finger and enough tokens to make two Dwarven Steels and one Minotaur hide with a pile of uncommons and commons to boot.

Had a great time, got to meet and play games with a few TD vets and I am looking forward to next year already :)

i was meaning if it would not be the same weekend as the combine, they could probably get a few food trucks out there..
