TOPIC: LAZ'S WYC runs

Re: MY WYC runs 10 years 2 months ago #13

Based on what I have read, you are correct.

Retro Event - no tokens

True Grind - same as GenCon - use of any tokens.
Of all the traits of humanity, there is only one we do not share with other species, which sets us apart and makes us unique <br />-- the ability to imagine.

Earlier announcements did reference relics and legendaries only, but we were still getting astrals and events at GenCon at that time. So maybe it's all changed.

If we can use anything I will be wanting to go dwarf fighter, fighter or paladin with a full tilt purple build (except for the ever trusty defender set). My son generally favors barbarian with a mostly red and some purple build. But we could also kit him out as fighter, paladin, cleric or Druid.

EDIT. Barbarian is his choice if we can use all out tokens.

I am still betting on the relic+ format though. Monks and casters can function without melee weapons. I will have the relic sword, I'm up for bashing things.

If we can use anything, I wonder what the AOW will do.

Can we get clarification from TPTB on the Grind format? Relics plus or all tokens?

you are better off posting that on Jeff's thread than mine

Thanks Laz,

Let me know what Classes you need. We have specific builds, but can switch things out to play most anything except Bard and Monk

Me: Fighter, Dwarf, any Wizard are preferable (could probably swing Paladin as well)
Wife: Rogue, Ranger, or maybe Druid.

I sent a pm

EDIT: And now we know. Any and all tokens. So my preference is dwarf fighter, fighter, paladin, in that order. Aenllan's preference is barbarian. Second choice is druid.

I have never been able to get a grind spot in prior years, so I'm a rookie at this format.

Is treasure a consideration? If not that clears a ring and charm spot for me.

Does the usual "save is better than AC" apply to a grind event?

No treasure in Grind, so drop the 'greedy' tokens. I have been through three different grinds, and you may find saves useful. Traditionally, the monsters have more abilities than usual. Last year, the 'boss' was a killer bunny that bit people's arms off.... those arms proceeded to attack us, lol.
