TOPIC: GENCON Badge!

The FAQ page for TD says that in 2011 it was located in the Marriott Downtown Hotel. Is that still the case? I remember reading somewhere else that it was a bigger venue recently, but its not clear if its still in the Marriott downtown.

it is in the main convention center now, but not in the same hall as last year.

I know Jeff mentioned it but I can;t find it right now, I _think_ it's moving to the hall opposite the will call/customer service area.

If it is that's great news for me, it places it meters from my volunteer station.

I'm pretty sure it's in Hall A this year.

2011 was last year TD was held in the Downtown Marriott's ballroom. In 2012 TD was held in Hall D inside the convention center. We were either in Hall C or B in 2013 (but I think it was , and I believe we are in Hall A in 2014.

Thank you Drugar, the map was perfect!! Am trying to plan hotel rooms, and wanted to be near TD, if feasible.

Apparently the way hotels work for VIGs is a little different. If you are a returning VIG you can submit a list of your preferred hotels before anyone else gets a shot, and odds of getting the Embassy Suites from the VIG block are pretty good then. But if you are a new VIG, you have to jump on at the same time as everyone else does on Jan 28, and hope you get your choice of hotel from the VIG block. (Keep in mind that the returning VIGs have already been given priority booking in that same block).

It'll be interesting to see what's available, come Jan 28 ; )

Luckily, our 2nd choice for hotel is the J.W. Monolith, and they tend to sell out much slower!

VIG Companion here - it really is nice having a place to stash bags during the convention, and getting into the dealer hall for an hour before everyone else on Thursday is really nice.

Plus, the last two years, there's been a special event to play Magic with Brandon Sanderson.

Year 5 VIG for me. I do like the early hotel grabbing from that. Congrats on joining the ranks Raven.

This is VIG year five for Team Yeti. I disagree with Brad that you 'get a little'; the perks are a perfect fit for our convention plan so we'd most likely pay more for them.

Good to hear someone else received a VIG badge on the forums. I was lucky enough to get a VIG badge as well (been trying for a few years now). I was unable to get it at the pre-reg but right at 12:00 EST and after failing that, I immediately sent a wait list request. I was contacted about three hours later with a GenCon employee stating someone had added a badge and did not purchase it so it was released and I immediately picked it up. Looking forward to this year!

With housing, I did not end up getting a spot but put myself on a wait list.
