In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: Suggestions from a lowly coaches assist

Suggestions from a lowly coaches assist 10 years 6 months ago #1

let me start by saying that working for TD and attending GenCon this year was amazing and i can't wait till next year. I worked the Lycan side as a coaches assistant and although there were a few bumps along the way i have to say the people i worked with were amazing and this is just my opinion on how to possibly improve the problems i saw at TD in 2013.
  • i would suggest redesigning the check in area for the palyers. i know over the course of the 4 days we had a number of people who would just head to their room and never chech in or even had a few that didn't even have tickets just come in and sit down thinkning that TD was a free adventure. i think that making it to where the players had to check in before ever being able to make it to a training room would solve some confusion.
  • i would also suggest adding to the ticket price the cost of the lights and possibly the HP clips. the lights were a nightmare for the coach assists. if we were able to give each player their own light and only have to worry about collecting the clips that would make the job of the assists sooooooo much easier
  • The lighting in the common areas was a little too dark, as well as the signs for where things were weren't directly lit so it made some of them really hard to read. especially for the new players this could pose a problem. I know the sign for lycan was very poorly lit and hard to read.
  • the common areas were really lacking in anything at all for new people. i realize that TD has amazing players, and that the runs usually sell out even before GenCon but have something for the common GenConee to do. i would personally love if TD was a destination for everyone.
  • along the same lines having a couple NPC's out in the main area to show new people around, and inform them what TD is all about would be nice. i persoanlly feel that TD is currently build with the people who already play in mind, and not very welcoming or inviting for the common attender.
  • lastly and i know this would be a super long shot, but i think would go a long way to bring in new players. give away a single run or even better do one a day that you give away, and make this for new players only. have an event or some way to get new people in the door so that they have a chance to win a run through the dungeon.
these are just some of the ideas i had to improve TD i know some are far fetched, but i would hate to see TD become stale, or more of an inside club/event.

  • I don't care how much you spent on tokens.

I gather from the TD newsletter that Jeff did a "demo area" at Who's Yer Con, letting people try out the combat board and such. Maybe they can permission to do something like that in hallway outside the dungeon next year to attack passersby?

Heck, just having somebody out there to answer questions (like a True Dungeon "sage") would be useful. My fiancée and I sat down in the hallway a couple of times to sort through recent token acquisitions, and newbies kept asking us questions about how to play and how to use tokens. (Apparently, once you start putting your tokens in a gigantic three-ring binder , people start assuming you're a TD expert).
